London Bound

Alarm goes off - 9am

I sighed and turned over to switch off my alarm. The first thing I did was grab my phone and check my Songwriting Instagram. I had posted a new song yesterday, and I was eager to see the response to Flicker. Scrolling through the comments, my heart skipped a beat. 1,500 comments. 2,000 likes. The most I had ever gotten. And then... one comment stopped me cold.

Niall Horan commented 'Wow. Wouldn't mind using that song for myself 😉'

I blinked, stunned. My hand shook as I swiped off the comment and noticed a new DM. Opening it, my jaw literally dropped.

Niall Horan: Hey there Apollo Music... God of music, right? Love that. I really meant what I said about your song. I would love to meet up to discuss working together. I know you're Glasgow-based but how would you feel about meeting in London? Look forward to hearing from you. Niall.

I screamed with excitement, "Oh my god!", that made my sister and Cara come running into my room, eyes wide. "What happened? OMG! There isn't a spider, is there?" Cara asked, leaping onto my bed.

"No, there's not a spider. I'm not scared like you" I said, still trying to contain my excitement.

"So, why did you scream?" Lily asked.

I held up my phone. "Niall Horan commented on my post... and I have a DM from him too"

Lily froze "Shut up" she says in disbelief.

Cara leaned in "What does it say?"

I read it aloud, my voice trembling "He wats to meet to discuss working together... in London. No fricking way!!"

"Oh my god! Are you gonna do it?" Cara squealed.

"Well, yeah. Of course! This could actually jumpstart my career. I'm so over writing ad jingles" I said.

"But you're amazing at those" Cara said sarcastically, knowing fine well how much I hate it and wished I had better opportunity to work with an actual artist.

"Thanks" I said with a fake annoyed look on my face.

"Well, then I think you've got your answer" Lily said looking at me with a look as if to say 'are you going to do it then?'.

I quickly typed back:

Me: Hey Niall, you're in luck. I'm heading to London this weekend - can we make arrangements for tomorrow?

Seconds later, his reply came:

Niall: Aww, that's grand. How about we meet at the Helix Suite tomorrow at half past one?

My jaw dropped again "He wants to meet at the Helix Suite tomorrow at half one" I repeated, unable to speak.

"Wow... he must really want to impress you" Lily said.

"That place is nice... lucky" Cara added.

I typed back my response:

Me: Sounds good, see you there!

All three of us erupted into screams and laughter, bouncing on the bed like children. "I can't believe this is happening" I shouted.

"Well believe it" Lily said with a smile.

"Famous already" Cara teased.

Eventually, we calmed down enough to get ready for the train "Are we ready to head to London? The train leaves at half eleven" Lily reminded us, always the planner.
