Detective Charlie Hudson sat at his desk working on paperwork. Suddenly the phone rang. Charlie picked up the phone and said: "Hello?" A familiar male voice said: "Hey Charlie. We need some help here. Can you and Rex come and give us a hand?" Charlie said: "Roy, tell John that we're on our way to your location. Where are you?" Roy told him. Charlie said: "Hang in there. We're on our way." Then he hung up and stood and grabbed his black leather jacket with fleece lining and shrugged into it and grabbed his keys and looked at Rex and whistled. Rex jumped down and followed him. They left and walked out to his car and got in and closed the doors and he buckled up and started the car and pulled out of the parking lot and drove to the location that Roy had given him. They reached the location and parked. Charlie unbuckled and turned the car off and opened the doors and got out and closed his door and walked around the car and closed the door. He clipped Rex's leash to his collar and walked over to the two firefighter/paramedics. He said: "What've you got?" Roy said: "Cave in. That's why we need Rex. We've got reports of people trapped inside. Our equipment is rubbish in there. The only piece of equipment that isn't rubbish is the phone. We can't use the rest or else the whole thing will cave. I know that Rex can do what our equipment can't. He can find those people." Charlie said: "He's trained for that. Okay Rex, search!" Charlie unclipped Rex's leash from his collar and let him go. Roy watched and said casually: "The fire department really ought to get a canine partner like Rex." Charlie said: "Everybody needs a Rex." John said: "So true."
