My name is Tatiana, I am a 17 year old girl who just moved to this small town from New York City. I lived with my dad before he passed away, and now I'm moving in with my cousins. My mom passed away when I was born. I've always been a curious teen, and growing up's been a trip.

Since I'm coming from New York City, I still have old habits, so when I get to my cousin's house, I throw all my bags on the floor. I'm living now, currently, with five cousins, and I've got a new school to navigate tomorrow.

"Hey, girl," Emily says.
"What’s up, Emily," I respond, going to sit on the couch.

Emily is the first cousin, also my age.

Avery says, "You've been quiet lately."

Avery is the second, a bit younger than me, I would estimate it to about 4 months younger.

I respond, "I'm just nervous about this whole new town thing. During the drive here, it was pretty strange and weird. I just had a whole vibe that made me concerned ."

She smirks at me and says, "Well, this place is pretty weird, but it doesn't matter."

Delilah walks up to me - she's the older cousin - 3rd one out of the 5 cousins in the house- and says, "Well, aren't you gonna catch up with us on all this stuff from New York City? How's life? How's school? Do you have a boyfriend?"

I respond, "Girls, stop playing. You know I'm not into that love BS."

Then she responds, "Well, you might be once you go to school here."

I do a little eye roll, then ask, "Where am I sleeping?"

She brings me up to my room “this shit, it's pretty cool”. I say.

She responds, "I personalized it just for you."

Next day, I wake up pretty early. I always do when I was in New York City. I loved the sun rising up across the buildings. It turns out they all wake up early here too, except it's not the same vibe - instead, it's a small room, and it's not giving city girl vibes. Once you look out the window, it's just houses lined up... something about it seems strange - same colors, same pattern, same lawn... it makes me miss New York City even more.

Anyway, I get up, and Chrissy walks into the room, she is the 4th out of 5 cousins and is older then me by a year. Anyway, she asks if I slept well, and I respond, "It's better than how I slept in New York City. I usually sleep like shit there."

Chrissy responds, "Maybe that's because your sleep schedule's shit there."

I let out a little laugh and continue getting ready. Once I finished, me and all the other cousins huddle up in one car, heading to school.

My first day of school was like any other day - people walking past, staring at me, asking who I was. Unfortunately, I didn't make any friends. I was just hanging out with my cousins because they were the only people who knew me there. I felt a little like shit. I didn't think anyone would want to know me, but then, when I went to my Spanish class, I saw some guy, and he actually looked like... fine shit.

"Damn," I whispered to myself. His name was Mike. He came all the way from California, and damn, those dark brown eyes and the dirty blonde hair were definitely getting to me. I stayed half of the period staring at him and not paying attention to my work.
