Fall Towards the Planet

 Inside a mechanical base the genius and feared Dr. Robotnik, also well known as Dr. Eggman was staring at his screen. On the monitor it showed that one of his satellites had caught a familiar energy signal that Eggman hadn't seen since he built his interstellar amusement park. Eggman laughs as he typed a message on his computer knowing how to shift this situation into his favor.

Running up the mountains of Green Hill Zone was Sonic the Hedgehog, the blue blur and hero of South Island known for defeating many evils from the god Dark Gaia to the water beast Chaos. Today however Sonic was watching the clouds and sky, it was one of his favorite ways to pass the time. This peace was interrupted when Sonic suddenly heard a familiar voice from behind him as he turned and saw his greatest friend Miles Prower, but preferred to be called Tails, rushing towards him with a worried look on his face.

"Sonic it is an emergency"! Tails said as he held up a tablet he called the Miles Electric "There is unidentified object heading to the planet at near light speeds"

"You think it might be something Egghead made?" Sonic asked as he looked at the tablet not understanding what he was exactly looking at but taking his best guess.

"I don't think so, it seems to be some kind of capsule with something inside that seems to be alive". Tails answered with both interest and confusion.

"Well then even if it doesn't have to do with Eggman we should still check it out to be safe". Sonic got ready to get going on a new adventure "let's get on your spaceship and see if we can reach it before it reaches us".

As Sonic and Tails flew towards the living comet they found a single Eggman airship covering the space above them. Sonic gets an angry look on his face as he gets ready for a fight with his old rival. Tails knew that going around the aircraft would be impossible as the current spaceship didn't have the defences of the other airships as this one only was made for transport.

"Sonic, how will we get up there"? Tails asked as he stayed low to not get noticed by the many canons that were luckily not focused on the spaceship.

"Well Eggman always has many entrances, get me up there and we can trash the base". Sonic knew that if Eggman was here he had to be after that alien creature as well so he would need Tails to help discover what Eggman knows.

After a second Tails chimed up saying "Got it, luckily Eggman doesn't know how to shield the underside of his aircrafts". Tails flew under the ship and landed at a balcony where they got out and gave each other a fist bump before rushing into the floating Eggman base.

Sonic and Tails made quick work of most of the Eggman robots as they looked for some kind of device that had what they were looking for. They needed to find the mother computer for the ship to see what about this comet had gotten the interest of Eggman. After a while Sonic came across a computer after bashing many badniks and eggpawns. Tails walked up and plugged the Miles Electric into the port and began downloading the data on the fleetship.

"Sonic I found something"! Tails yelled as he looked at the data he got.

"Really, what is it?". Sonic asked, distracted by his curiosity.

"Well it seems that Eggman wasn't just scanning for objects in space but also for different kinds of energy. And the energy of the organism seems to be similar to-" Tails was interrupted before he could finish as Sonic was grabbed by a metal claw and dragged away.

Sonic wasn't able to react and was brought across the airship as Metal Sonic stood over him as Sonic was lying on the floor.

"Well Metal would say it was nice to see you but that would mean that I enjoy this" Sonic said as he rolled into a spindash slamming into Metal but was knocked away by a claw then Sonic got into a standing pose confidently pointing at Metal Sonic.

The two speedsters ran across the station with each being able to land hits. Sonic got to a narrow hallway and did a corkscrew to get hit Metal Sonic from their other side. Metal was knocked into the wall and charged their booster for a second before rushing down Sonic, grabbing him then slamming the hedgehog into the ground. Sonic then grabbed Metal's arm before rolling into a spindash and throwing the fake hedgehog away and preparing a boost as Metal Sonic charged their booster. Before either of them could launch at the other the ship suddenly was shaking and threw both off balance. Right after Metal Sonic got a message and flew away.

"Hey, don't you know it is rude to take a call when talking to someone"! Sonic said to taunt Metal Sonic as he boosted towards the faker.

Sonic and Metal's race brought them to the deck outside as Sonic looked at a small ball of scrap metal that was smoking from the impact it made into the airship. Metal Sonic rushed towards the ball but before they could reach it Sonic kicked him in the head knocking him away.

"Sorry Metal but if Baldy wants that ball then it makes me think I shouldn't give it to you". Sonic said this, noticing Metal pointed at him and the cannons followed his finger to Sonic. Sonic noticed this and jumped right as the cannons fired at him and he homing attacked Metal Sonic knocking him onto his back and Metal spun their joints around to get back up. The cannons kept firing as Sonic dodged them while landing hits when he could but he was fighting an uphill battle that wasn't looking good. Sonic was doing great until he was caught off guard by a stray shot that he managed to dodge but Metal took the chance to grab Sonic and lift him into the air and readied the cannons to fire right at the hedgehog.

"Metal, are you crazy? This will destroy both of us". Sonic said knowing that Metal didn't care that he would get killed by this attack, besides Metal could be rebuilt Sonic could not. Sonic tried to pull himself out of Metal's grasp and looked in horror as the cannons charged up. Sonic looked right at Metal but then looked above him as he spotted a small cyan glow flying towards him. Sonic smiled as he took his hand away from Metal's claw and reached out towards the glow as it flowed into his body and the cannons fired. Sonic suddenly became light itself as he bounced off of each shot so fast all anyone could see was a cyan afterimage and with each time he knocked into a shot, the energy was knocked away. After the energy blasts were taken care of Sonic finished the fight by slamming into Metal Sonic pushing him off of the airship.

Sonic rematerialized into the hedgehog everyone knows and out of his chest a small ghost like creature that Sonic was familiar with. "Sonic are you OK"? Tails asked as he was out of breath from running after the two hedgehogs fighting.

"More than OK Tails. It is always nice to see an old friend". Sonic said as he looked at the wisp.

"That's great to hear Sonic. Wait the capsule we need to find out what's inside it"! Tails said as he turned to the metal ball.

"You don't know"?

"Nope all Eggman was able to figure out was that it was the second strongest wisp he has ever seen" Tails was excited to see what this strong wisp was. As they both approached the capsule and as both of them tried to open it the door opened itself. Inside the capsule was a light blue lynx that was waking up and was scared but then excited. Suddenly the lynx spoke in the wisp's language. Sonic wasn't familiar with this language as he looked at Tails who used the Miles Electric to translate.

"Hello I am Starlight, a member of the wisps".

"Starlight, huh? You know you don't really look like a wisp". Sonic said confused at the fact Starlight was a lynx instead of the simple glowing ghost like the others.

"Well, the wisps found some of your genetic data and decided to build a guardian for when we arrive on your planet".

"Well looks like we will need to throw a welcome party for you all then. That is if more of you are coming". Almost as if to answer his question Tails grabbed Sonic's arm and pointed upwards towards the sky. Looking up Sonic saw many lights of many colors, some he has never seen a wisp have before, all flying towards the planet. "Well let the curators know to get a large amount of food in that case. We have quite the large welcome party to throw".
