The door to the roof pushed open with a soft crrrrreeeeeeek, and instantly the smell of rain hit Denki's nose. He took a deep breath in, relishing the feeling of the damp, cool air.

The small awning over the roof allowed him to step outside without getting drenched, so that's just what he did. Leaning against the balcony railing, the blonde shivered slightly as he took in the peaceful view.

There wasn't a soul in sight, all rational students clearly choosing to take cover inside one of the buildings on campus. But despite the nature of his quirk, Denki honestly found the rain comforting. The smell of wet grass, the sound of the rain softly hitting the concrete, the way the clouded sky bathed everything in low light – it was relaxing. That's why he was up on the roof in the first place; to take it all in for a moment.

He was so caught up in the peace of it all that Denki barely registered the low cough that came from his right. Slightly startled, his head snapped towards the sound to find a lavender-haired boy sitting on the edge of the building, his legs dangling off the side as his elbows leaned against the bottom rung of the metal railing.

He looked familiar, but Denki was sure he didn't have any classes with him. Still, the blonde swore he knew him from somewhere.

It wasn't until his deep purple eyes met Denki's that he pieced it together.

Hitoshi Shinso

The boy in general studies who had held his own in the sports festival. Kaminari's eyebrows scrunched together as he tried to recall the events that had actually taken place during that festival, and it wasn't until the boy in front of him cleared his throat that Denki realized that he had been staring directly at him while lost in his own thoughts.

"Oh, uh.. sorry." Denki said quickly, eyes falling away from him nervously. How long had he been staring, he wondered.

"It's fine." Shinso said gruffly, turning back to look down at the campus below the two of them. The silence stretched on afterwards, Denki unsure what else to say, and Shinso seemingly uninterested in any conversation.

"You like the rain?" He finally settled on, fiddling with his fingers as he looked back at Shinso.

Shinso did not respond.

Denki cocked his head in confusion. From what he knew about the boy, he was definitely the silent, brooding type, but he'd never known him to be rude. Wondering if he hadn't heard him, Denki repeated himself a bit louder.

Still nothing.

At this point, the blonde's patience was wearing thin. Sure, he probably hadn't come up here with the goal of having a conversation, but neither did Denki. Regardless, here they both were, shrouded by the cover of the roof's awning, listening to the pitter patter of the rain. It was oddly... intimate? And the least the standoffish boy could do is have some minor, awkward small talk with him.

He was still ranting in his own head when the lavender boy finally looked back up at him. Reaching up to his ear and pulling out a single headphone that Denki hadn't noticed earlier, he asked "Sorry, did you say something?"
