Ashton returned with our drinks and set mine in front of me before taking the seat opposite me and smiling.

‘You’ve gone quiet,’ I noted. ‘Everything okay?’ Ashton sipped his coffee and just looked at me without saying anything. ‘Ashton?’ I repeated curiously.

‘Sorry, what was that?’ He replied.

‘I said you’d gone quiet,’ I explained. ‘You alright?’

‘Oh,’ he answered. ‘Yeah, sorry.’

He leaned forward over the table, then, reaching out to tuck my hair away behind my ear. ‘There,’ he said quietly. ‘Now I can see your beautiful face better.’ I smiled at him, biting my lip lightly as I blushed.

‘Your hair is a really pretty colour,’ he commented as he twirled the ends in his fingers.  ‘Nice and long, too,’ he added thoughtfully.

‘It’ll be gone soon,’ I admitted, ‘I’m shaving it off for Cancer,’ I explained before smiling at him and sipping my coffee.

‘I bet you look just like your Mum,’ he stated. ‘That’s such a wonderful cause,’ he added sincerely. ‘Any particular reason?’ He wondered innocently.
