BEEP! BEEP! BEEEEEEP!
Damn it...
If you couldn't tell already, Dandy wasn't an early bird.
POV: DANDICUS DANCIFER/DANDY
Dandy yawned quietly, lazily stretching his arms wide as he poked his tail out from under the covers of his bed, swiftly motioning it to the alarm clock, gently turning the alarm off. [Yes, Dandy has a tail in this story.]
The tiny clock read 5:30, which, yes, was Dandy's usual time to wake up. Nothing new. He went to sleep early however, to make up for it. It was an easy solution to sleep deprivation. The dreams that Astro sent him were a plus, as well. Dandy had dreamed about many things 'in his time', but Astro always asked Dandy what dream he would like to have beforehand, which made Dandy feel special.
Dandy ineptly moved his bed's fluffy rainbow blankets off of him, attempting not to wake the ever-so gracefully sleeping Pebble that lay beside him, wrapped in his arms. He had always ensured that Pebble got a full night's rest, for the sake of his health. Delilah could live with that, Dandy was sure.
Slowly, Dandy removed his arms around Pebble and quietly leapt off of his bed, landing with a bow, softly chuckling to himself. He liked to imagine that he was on stage, sometimes. Preforming for the young children that visited Gardenview was one of the more fulfilling things he did in his life.
Or maybe it was an act.
Who knows.
Pulling a blanket around Pebble in hopes that he would stay warm, Dandy decided what he should do next.
Oh, right! It's Christmas time!
After his sharp vision adjusted to the dark, Dandy looked around his room for his Christmas sweater that Bobette had made him specifically for Christmas, walking quietly as he felt around the various shelves that lined the colorful rooms walls.
Halloween costume... Performance attire... more boots- AHAH!
Dandy finally found the sweater near the bottom of the third row of shelving, sighing with relief as he fit himself into it.
I should really get Bobette to make myself a new sweater... Dandy thought with a groan, his stomach slightly bulging out of the shaggy piece of clothing. It was nice that she had made him one in the first place, but this one wasn't really Dandy's size.
Some of the kids thought that Dandy's chubbiness was cute, but others thought it was weird. Dandy himself, however, didn't really mind it. If being chubby really [was] that bad, then he was sure that Arthur would've avoided adding such a thing to Dandy's character.
Pushing those thoughts aside with a small shake of his petals, Dandy approached the entrance door to his room, tilting his head slightly after observantly noticing the light that was filtering through the door's crack.
Seems like someone is awake. Wonder who... I hope Boxten didn't have [another] nightmare.
Acutely creaking open the room's door, Dandy shut it faster than he opened it, hoping that the light hadn't disturbed Pebble's peaceful rest.
"Oh, it's you."
Shit.
Dandy cringed slightly, instantly recognizing Glisten's voice. Frankly, Dandy wasn't on the best terms with Glisten.
Specifically after last night. Even more so specifically after Glisten had accidentally stolen Dandy's entire show crowd with his so-called 'charm'. Even more so specifically after Delilah had gotten mad with Dandy because of his 'inability to keep the crowd alive'.
What a situation.
Turning around, Dandy saw Glisten standing by the kitchen counter, and he suddenly turned the overhead light on, illuminating the entire room. It was a rather casual kitchen, with oak-wood cabinets, a fridge, two dishwashers, a sink, four pantries lined side-by-side [one was entirely devoted to Yatta's candy stock], and five medium-sized brown tables. It also had nice sky-blue walls with a rainbow lazily painted across the entirety of the wall, starting from the lounge section to the very end of the room.
And then there was.. Glisten. With a hot mug of coffee, which he set behind him with a quick sigh.
Clearing his throat, Dandy rubbed his fingers together behind his back, looking down at the medium-brown wood floor beneath him.
"Oh, Glisten!" Dandy greeted hastily, walking over to the insomniac mirror. He had seemed to be in the middle of making coffee. "You don't look too good, did you uh.. get good sleep? I got an amazing rest!" Dandy let out a cheery laugh, noticing the very obvious exhaustion on Glisten's face.
Glisten seemed slightly zoned out, but blinked and then his personality seemingly reset, a smug smile settling on his reflective face. "I got the best of the best of the best rest, Dandy! You needn't worry about my own sleep schedule, worry about yours. It's 5:30, you may want to hop back in that little bed of yours!"
Maybe he feels guilty for ruining my show yesterday, so he didn't sleep, or he couldn't? Eh, I'll keep that thought to myself.
Dandy shook his head, putting on what was probably a painfully obvious fake grin, all while tugging at his sweater. "Well, that's jolly good, Glisten! I won't be heading back to sleep, though," Dandy's tone of voice changed from excited to slightly displeased. "I have to help Arthur with something."
"..Right." Glisten sighed, turning back to his coffee for another drink.
"See you around, Glisten."
"You too, Dandy."
Finally, god. I'm out of here.
Grabbing a rather randomly placed apple off of the same counter that Glisten's coffee mug had shared, Dandy was off in a heartbeat, making his way toward the Gardenview entry hall.
Apparently, since the first day of December had rolled around, Dandy was required to assist all of the staff in decorating for the holidays, which he actually quite enjoyed. Since he was rather stubby, though, he usually helped out with smaller decorations, like bush lights, or lanterns.
Exiting the Toon Dormitories, Dandy made his way along the echoing hallways of the inside of Gardenview, glancing at the various decor that lined the walls. The pictures ranged from some of the other toons together, the Main Characters, random Dandy's World: The TV Show posters, etc.
Making his way down the very, very long harrowing staircase that led up to the Toon Dormitories, Dandy finally reached the Gardenview Lobby with a smile plastered on his face, letting out a sigh of relief. Dandy really hated stairs.
What confused Dandy, though, is that.. there were no decorations in sight. No lights, no lanterns, no wreaths. Not even the Christmas toons. Wasn't.. Hadn't Arthur told Dandy to come down for decorative matters?
"A- Arthur? Wasn't this about decoration?" Dandy asked, hoping for the man to magically appear.
And then, of course, Arthur seemingly appeared out of nowhere, approaching Dandy with a slight frown.
"Well, Dandy. This.. isn't actually about decoration."
"Well then, what is it about? It couldn't of been this important to the point where you had to isolate me so we could talk in private, right?..." Dandy asked, hesitation laced in his voice.
"No. It's about this."
And then, Arthur pulled out a file.
