The forest was quiet that morning, the kind of quiet that pressed against your ears and made every small sound feel like a shout. Rosalie Cullen had always loved the woods—its peace, its solitude—but today, the stillness felt different, heavy with something unseen.

She had been wandering along the familiar trail when a soft, almost imperceptible sound caught her attention. A whimper. Fragile. Human.

Rosalie froze, her senses sharpening in an instant. She could feel the faint pulse of life—a rhythm so delicate it could have been a dream. Following the sound, she pushed past the low-hanging branches and stumbled upon a small bundle, wrapped in tattered cloth, hidden beneath the roots of a fallen tree.

The baby's eyes fluttered open, wide and blue, staring at her as if she had been expecting her. Her tiny fingers curled around nothing, grasping at the air. Rosalie felt an unfamiliar tug in her chest, something more than curiosity, more than concern. This child needed her.

Without hesitation, Rosalie scooped her up, holding the fragile infant close. The warmth of human life against her skin was strange, almost intoxicating, but it was fleeting—so she savored it.

"I'll take care of you," she whispered, more to herself than to the baby. "You're safe now."

By the time she returned to the Cullen home, Edward's sharp eyes had already spotted her from the living room window. "Rosalie," he asked cautiously, his voice calm but tinged with concern, "what have you found?"

Rosalie placed the baby gently into his arms, and Edward's eyes softened as he studied the tiny life before him. Carlisle was already by their side, analyzing the child with a gentle, practiced precision.

"She's alone," Rosalie said simply. "Her parents... they didn't come back for her."

Esme's hand trembled slightly as she took the baby from Edward. "We can't leave her out there," she said softly. "Not like this."

And so it began. Navy Lynn Cullen, a name chosen for her by the Cullens themselves, entered a world unlike any other—a world of immortals, of secrets, and of destinies she could not yet understand.

She would grow up under their care, protected yet unaware, loved yet curious. And somewhere in the shadows of her future, a bond waited—unspoken, inexplicable, and bound to the boy with eyes that mirrored the storm inside her soul.

For now, though, she was just a baby. And the Cullens were her family.
