Innocence is a beautiful thing. So powerful and pure, like crystal water flowing from a hidden spring, untouched by time or corruption, or maybe even a deer. But once that deer is killed, it will never come back. And some things, once tainted, can't return to their original purity, no matter how hard you try to cleanse them. Even the clearest water, once missed, can never be quite the same again.

Asher held the gun, hands shaking as he aimed it at the deer. His breath caught up in his throat, his fingers shaking and his mind screamed at him to pull the trigger.

"Asher. Shoot." His father said, his voice flat and deep.

Asher's finger hovered over the trigger. 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘪𝘵 He scolded himself, but it was never enough, he froze, and a yelp escaped his mouth once his father grabbed on his shoulder and roughly grabbed the gun from him.

Bang!

The sound erupted in the air, Asher's hands were over his ears with his eyes shut.

"Look at it."

The boy remained still, his body didn't move, and it felt like if he did, he would be the next to be shot.

"I said look at it!" He fisted Asher's shirt and pulled on his hair, Asher screamed in pain, eyes widened with instinct. There, he caught a glimpse of the bloody deer that laid on the floor, lifeless..
