CHASING SHADOWS
Emery Stanton and Porter Haywood used to be inseparable. That is until something happens that sends their relationship spiraling into disaster and forces the two friends in completely opposite directions. For two long years, they exist pretending the other doesn't. Then the infection happens. The world is ravaged seemingly overnight by an unimaginable epidemic, leaving cities in ruins and the human population scarce. The world is unwillingly shared between the survivors and the infected, or more commonly known as the 'zeroes'. Emery is one of those unlucky survivors.
Newly infected and on the verge of zeroing out, she and her brother Finn begin the search for a permanent cure that doesn't yet exist. For the time being, Emery is surviving on a temporary cure that doesn't do much besides prolong the inevitable. The two siblings find hope in the form of a radio broadcast coming out of a military fort in southern Texas. With no other options left, and time running out, they decide it's their last chance. On their journey, though, they come face to face with Emery's past or more specifically, Porter. To Emery, Porter is the last person she wants to be stuck facing the end of the world with. To Porter, this is his last chance to make right his wrongs. Can what's broken every truly be fixed though?
