Wanda paced around the living room, watching as the minutes stretched into hours. Y/N was running late with work once again, it has seemed to become a thing since they have been working alongside their father, preparing for the day they take over as CEO of Stark Industries.

"Hey, sorry I'm late." Y/N spoke as they entered the apartment, placing their keys on the hook beside the door.

"Are you?" Wanda questioned, her tone sharp as her gaze burned into Y/N as she remained in her spot.

"Yes, I am." They sighed, walking past her towards the bedroom.

"You have a very funny way of showing it." Wanda stated as she followed them. "You're late every night, and you always say you're sorry, that it wont happen again but it always happens."

"Can we not do this right now, please." Y/N spoke as they loosened their tie, turning around to face her. "I'm tired and I need a shower."

"Why? So you can wash away any evidence of fucking your assistent?" She challenged. Y/N only sighed, looking at her in defeat.

"I am not fucking Maria." They told her steadily. "You know that you're the only one I want to be with."

"Do I?" Wanda spoke louder. "Because you're never here anymore, and when you are here, you may as well be back at work."

"You know that the company is my legacy, Wanda. It's my responsibility when my dad retires." They told her, raising their own voice slightly.

"No, you have never wanted to follow in your dad's path." She told them. "But you're too afraid to be the person you want to be, because you're too afraid of disappointing your father."

"Wanda." Y/N tried as she just shook her head before interrupting them.

"It's like I don't even know you anymore." She told them sadly.

"Don't be rediculous." They scoffed, hands on their hips as they kept their eyes on their wife.

"It's like I'm married to Tony Stark, and not Y/N Stark." She yelled, not caring about the neighbours. "I am not your mother, I will not live in your mother's marriage." She chuckled dryly. "You even used to complain about their marriage, how your father treated her, well more like didn't."

"You know very well that I am not my father." They told her through gritted teeth. "I am trying to build a future for us, for our future family."

"Is it worth having a family if this is what our marriage is like?" She questioned, watching as Y/N's stoic expression faltered slightly.

"What are you saying?" They asked her, quieter than before.

"I don't want to bring any children into this mess, not when we aren't working." She told them. "I can't do that to my children."

"So what are you saying? You want a divorce?" They questioned, their heart beating rapidly in their chest, an uncomfortable feeling in their stomach as they watched her every movement.

"No, I don't know right now." She whispered. "I know that I love you, but I can't keep going like this. It's not fair on me."

"I don't know what to say." Y/N whispered as they moved to sit on the edge of the bed. "I never wanted this to happen." Wanda watched as they put their head in their hands. "I never meant for this to happen." Wanda hesitently stepped forward, reaching for one of their hands as she got on her knees before them.

"I know." She whispered, looking into their eyes. "I know, but I can't live like this, like your mom. That's not who I am, and you know that. Well, the old you did." She watched as their eyes filled with tears, mirroring her own. She took a deep breath as she gave their hand a squeeze. "What about a separation, I can always move in with Natasha for a while, just until we find ourselves again."

"No." They whispered, shaking their head.

"Y/N, it's just a separation." She told them, reaching up with her free hand to cup their face. "It's just until we both find who we are again, not living in anyone's shadow."

"I don't want to lose you." They spoke shakily, Wanda took a shaky breath before continuing.

"You're not going to lose me." She told them. "I just need you to find who you are again, then maybe we can see about finding us again." She combed her hand through their hair. "It's not forever, just for a while."

"Okay." They spoke hoarsely, getting on their feet abruptly. Moving towards the closet, grabbing a bag and starting to pack away. "I'll uh, I'll go and stay with Bucky or something."

"Y/N, it's not for definite." She told them softly, watching their movements. "I just, I need us to do this. I want us to be better, be stronger. We need to do this for ourselves."

"Okay." They nodded as they zipped up their bag, their eyes meeting hers. "It's not forever, just for now."

"Just for now." She whispered, closing her eyes for a moment. Sighing when she felt a hand on her cheek, taking in a shakey breath as she opened her eyes. She could see the pain, guilt and regret in their eyes. "Just please go." She whispered. "I can't keep being like this, please just go." Y/N only nodding, pressing a long kiss to her forehead before turning away to grab their bag.

"I just want you to know one thing that has never changed is how much you mean to me." They spoke softly. "Goodbye for now, Wanda." With that, they left Wanda alone in the bedroom, once she heard the door close, she fell to her knees as she let her tears fall. Only able to hope that they can both work on themselves before they work on their marriage.
