"This is quite the sight." A young man said wistfully as he looked up towards the moon hanging high in the cloudless sky. He had a camera attached to a helmet on his head. He also has a skateboard under his left foot.
"And all those lovely sounds." He said with a grin as he took in the continuous chirping of crickets. "This is what summer is all about."
He took in a deep breath before looking down at his feet, where he stood over the edge of an empty circular pool. He exhaled softly and gave a small grin. "It's go time!"
Elsewhere
Just above the vast Mojave Desert was a strange aircraft that was hurtling towards the earth. It was leaving behind a black, smoky trail. Inside, a trail of lavender colored blood was leading towards a seat and the pilot of the aircraft. Their bloodstained hand held onto the control as tightly as it could, with the other hand being used to apply pressure on a massive wound on their abdomen. The figure also wore a strange green attire.
The aircraft crashed through a pillar of rock that caused it to slam into the ground, where it bounced four times in succession. After the fourth bounce, it slid along the ground, leaving behind a dust trail before completely flipping over. The airship tore itself apart in a mighty explosion that shook the earth. Its pieces were scattered about and set ablaze, yet no one was anywhere near to have seen or heard anything.
Lying against their broken pilot's seat was a pink-skinned alien with pointed ears. He raised up his right hand to his face as a green ring on his middle finger began glowing brightly. With his dying breath, he uttered a single command. "Find... him..."
Back with (Y/n)
(Y/n) was continuing his skating tricks as he rode along the empty walls of the pool with a sense of freedom. He skated up along the side and was in the air for a brief moment before a blinding flash of green light obscured his vision. When (Y/n) opened his eyes again, he found himself soaring through the night sky with incredible speed. He was truly at a loss for words as a strange and transparent green bubble surrounded him and his skateboard.
He looked down and watched as various city skylines were whizzing by in a blur until all he saw was undeveloped rocky terrain. He adjusted his helmet to record what he could as his unexpected flight began to slow down as he approached an area with a massive plume of smoke. His skateboard descended safely next to the shattered remains of the aircraft as (Y/n) made sure to capture as much of the footage as he could.
"Talk about crazy." He said, completely baffled before noticing a figure further ahead. He tossed aside his helmet and ran straight towards the person.
He noticed the figure wasn't exactly human looking, with both of their hands having only four fingers. Almost alien, but (Y/n) was more concerned about the massive gash along the abdomen. The alien met eyes with the young man and exhaled sharply. "I am Abin Sur... I am not of Earth, but of a far distant planet..."
This news blew (Y/n)'s mind, but he pushed aside his questions. "Abin Sur, you're... bleeding out." He pointed out the obvious. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
"No, it is too late to help me..." He wheezed. "Besides, there is a much more important matter at hand."
"More important than your life?!"
"The ring..." Abin Sur held up his hand to show off a green ring that began to float off his finget. "It has chosen you. That the ring has singled you out indicates your potential to overcome fear. To become truly fearless. It also means you are... honest." He visibly flinched in pain as he spoke.
"Please, you shouldn't strain yourself." (Y/n) urged.
"No... I must pass on what I can to you, my successor. I am the Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814." Abin Sur waved his hand as a strange looking lantern appeared before their eyes.
