This is a work of fiction and resemblance to real events or people is a coincidence.
The name Kyalo is pronounced Chalo (ch-aa-lo)
"Look me in the eyes as you're telling me this!" I demanded, my voice shaking on the verge of sobbing.
The wind picked up, blowing my loose black uniform pants but not cooling the emotional turmoil that was surging within me.
He shifted his gaze from the year nines playing a soccer match and looked me in my eyes. His eyes were dim, disinterest looming in them. The spark of passion and what I had confused as love was no longer there.
One didn't lose the love they had for someone. Not this quick, not this drastically.
He never loved me.
Not when he whispered it in my eyes while caressing my flesh.
Not while he captured my lips in sensual kisses.
"K...Kyalo. Are you seriously doing this?"
He let out a frustrated sigh and turned his head again to the match. He was still handsome with his: defined jawline, juicy pink lips, smooth coffee colored skin and his hooded honey brown eyes that gave him a seductive stare.
Someone yelled, "Goal!" and was joined by excited cheers from the others.
My heart tightened in my chest, as sadness and disbelief strongly wound it tight.
"Kyalo!" I yelled, irritated by his indifference.
"I'm not trying to deal with your drama. It's over." He replied calmly, "You're too clingy and not freaky enough. It was fun but I need more fun especially next week when in Diani. There will be so many shawrees, I can't be tied down by you and you're not giving."
I took in a shaky breath, stabilizing myself before I spoke out.
He will not see me cry.
"I understand. Do your thing then."
"So we're cool? Don't be ruining my trip with your drama."
"You're not worried about me, I'm not worried about you."
He eyed me quizzically, taking in my response before he sighed again and shrugged his shoulders.
"Alright cool. Lemme go holla at the guys."
I turned on my heel making a beeline to the lockers. I walked fast, trying to avoid any eye contact with anyone. I was holding it in so I could cry at home. I had never cried publicly in school, and I was not about to do that on my last day in this school.
Luckily, most of the year thirteens were at home enjoying their summer vacation having finished their exams. Only a handful of us had come on 12th of June to take our final paper for Biology.
I crossed many year twelves but none of the ones I was acquainted with. I opened my locker and got my backpack out. It had my phone which I couldn't bring into the exam hall. I had long discarded my stationery in celebration of finishing high school.
I turned it on, my fingers shaking as I waited for the machine to give me the news that would save me.
My screen appeared with a text from my driver Mister Caleb.
I'm here.
Those two words gave me all the hope I needed and I dashed for the parking lot, looking for my parents black 2012 BMW.
As I walked towards the car I saw Kyalo from the corner of my eye. I made a quick glance only to see him and his four goons around him. He was talking to them but looking directly at me. I turned around and slipped into the backseat, not before I heard them yell,
"Nooo!" Followed by laughter and cackles.
I let the tears fall, sobbing quietly not to attract any attention from Mister Caleb who kept his eyes steady on the road.
