7/2/25-Tokyo 11:00
After a long study session. Kiota Keiji and his best friend, Aiden Rider, finally left the library and began the long walk back to their apartment complex.
"Aw man, who's the genius that thought putting our bikes a whole block down was a good idea?" Aiden groaned, dramatically dragging out every word.
"Uh you did?" Keiji said deadpanly."
"Oh yeah, what was I thinking?" Aiden said confused.
"And why didn't you stop me?"
"I mean I could've but you seemed so sure of yourself and I didn't want to ruin that for you. Not to mention a block isn't that long of a walk at most it'll just take us a 20 or so minutes."
Of course you'd say that, Mr. Positive strikes again and I guess you're right about the block, but it still sucks."
"I thought when you stop playing a game for hours on end and you forget to save sucked?"
"No, no, no, this sucks, THAT'S a tragedy."
"Well, that's life for ya. Chalked full of obstacles-but once overcome, they can lead to great rewards."
"Ha. Okay, Sophocles."
The duo continue down the road and after a while their almost halfway through the city block before Keiji started to realize something.
"Hey, Aiden?"
"Sup."
"Is it just me or are we the only ones out here?"
Aiden looked around and the realization hits him like a truck.
This is a city block their on, in Tokyo of all places, one of the most populated cities in the world even at night their's always someone outside.
"Yeah ok, that is strange."
"Maybe they have some kind of curfew?"
"A Tokyo wide curfew? Not likely. We would've heard something about that."
"Well you got any better ideas?"
"No, but let's just get to the apartment complex before something happens.
The two continue down the sidewalk, still not a soul in site, not even something as simple as a cat meowing but then Keiji suddenly stopped. Something in the alley they were passing caught his eye; a hooded figure crouched against the wall, a small hat placed in front of them. The only reason they were visible at all was the weak flickering light above the door leading into the building they were against.
Aiden noticed Keiji staring.
"Um... Keiji?"
"Look at that a homeless person. I'm going to help them."
Before Keiji could take more than a few steps into the alley, Aiden grabbed his shoulder and spun him around.
"Dude-are you insane!?"
"What?"
"What do you mean what!? Theirs absolutely nobody out here aside from us and this hooded guy and you're about to walk into a dark alleyway toward said hooded stranger you know nothing about! At night! This is by definition, a bad idea! And I thought I was the reckless one here!"
Keiji hesitated, considering his friend's words... but then looked back at the figure.
"Relax, man. It's just somebody on hard times. I'm gonna do what I'm best at and help him. If you don't wanna come, then you can stay here. But I'm going."
