Vampires. They're categorized as 'running rampant', but in reality, their population is slowly dwindling. Ever since humans started to gain their independence from the vampires, they've been trying to get rid of them.
Honestly, there isn't much reason behind this. Maybe they're driven by fear, hunger for power, maybe just hatred for something different.
This has always been the case, even since centuries ago. In the old land of Miveria, there used to be peace. A time where vampires and humans lived together. But, human greed has its way of ruining peace. They slowly gave the vampires less blood until they were barely getting any from the government. This caused vampire attack cases to become more frequent, which made humans turn on them and label them as vile beasts.
They were pushed higher north, to harsher conditions, to isolation. And that's how it's been since, over time vampires have been slowly forced to move away from human society. Which is how northern Miveria became the 'vampire ridden' territory.
But, that's not how the vampires see it. They view Northern Miveria as a safe place, especially in the less populated areas. Less populated by humans, at least. Vampires live in decently large communities there, forming strong familial bonds and community with other families. There, they run their own society.
Though recently, there has been an underlying issue. A blood shortage.
To briefly explain, vampires need human blood to stay strong, and for their bodies to work properly. They can survive on animal blood, but they will become weaker than usual and will have health complications. The lack of humans in the area is partly at fault for this, but the government of miveria is mostly the cause of this. They don't provide vampires with blood anymore, just as they did in past times.
Tensions between humans and vampires are high, and most people can tell something bad is going to happen soon. A war, or something worse is approaching. And every day it seems like something drastic is going to happen.
