Six years ago, Sky kingdom
It was another boring patrol near the Sandwing border. Pine wished something exciting would happen.
"Why do we even have to patrol this area?" a voice huffed behind her.
"Avalanche you know why so quit whining." Pine answered.
"Quiet, Both of you." their leader captain Soar hissed.
Instinctively Pine froze and listened to her surroundings. The forest was quiet, too quiet. There was no noise, there were no birds chirping in the spruce trees, no crickets calling out. Suddenly Pine heard a faint sound, Something like leaves crunching under a dragons talons.
"Did you hear that?" she whispered over to Avalanche as quietly as she could.
"Pine are you sure you heard anything? Last time you said you heard an Icewing but all we found was a goat." Avalanche sneered.
The noise came again but much louder and somewhere ahead of them.
"I think Pine is right. Something's out there." one of the new scouts nervously whispered.
It was then that they found the Icewing's camp, a small clearing with a canopy of leaves hiding it from the sky. The Clearing was surrounded with thornbushes. There were two dragons in the camp. Pine thought she saw eggshells partly buried in a thorn bush. They tried to sneak up on the Icewings but were quickly spotted. The Icewings split one attacked their group of five whilst the other grabbed two newly hatched dragonets that were hidden.
"Narwhal fall back, I have the dragonet!" the female Icewing shouted.
The male Icewing grabbed a fallen scout's body and threw it at the last three scouts then launched into the sky. As the female Icewing also launched towards the sky Pine noticed that she only had one of the two dragonets.
"After them!" their captain ordered as he flew after the Icewings.
Avalanche immediately launched into the sky and started following them. Pine decided to stay behind to look for the missing dragonet and study the camp. Whilst Pine was looking around the camp the captain and Avalanche landed behind her.
"find them?" she asked.
"No" they answered.
Suddenly they heard a rustle from a nearby bush. The three Skywings turned to see the missing dragonet emerge from the small thornbush startling everyone. As Pine studied the dragonet she noticed that the ground underneath it was starting to freeze. The tiny dragonet had a nervous look on her face.
"What should we do with her?" Avalanche asked the captain.
"It deserves to die." Captain Soar snarled.
"She didn't do anything wrong." Pine Retorted covering the tiny dragonet protectively.
"I agree with Pine. Perhaps we could ask the queen if someone could raise her as one of our soldiers?" Avalanche interjected.
"I could raise her. The queen will probably agree when we tell her that her own parents abandoned her." Pine said.
"Fine. I will support your idea but after the queen makes her decision I want nothing to do with it." Soar hissed.
Pine looked down at the dragonet and realized her scales were mostly a snowy white but faded to an ice blue in some spots.
"I'll call her Blizzard." She announced.
