There was something about being on the train that I loved. I don't know why but it was calming, it was like an escape from the reality of my life, just sitting here peacefully as I crossed the city admiring the world I lived in with nothing but the sound of the rattling tracks filling the air. I guess the word escape isn't the best word to describe it but it might as well be when I live in a city I can never leave. The fence doesn't allow us to get out, either they're keeping us in or they're keeping something out who knows. It's been this way all my life. The city -split into 5 factions based on personality and aptitude.

Candor value honesty, they blame the war that led to our city's creation on lies. They tell the truth, even if you wished they wouldn't and they wear white and black to show balance. Then there's Erudite who have the facts, they are the smart ones that value knowledge. They think they know everything, but I've always believed that knowledge expands and changes every day, if they were as smart as they acted then surely they would know what's keeping us trapped in here. Anyway they wear blue and act as the scientists and doctors. We also have Amity, they believe that the world deserves peace and strive for happier times. Most people think they're strange, but they're just honest and kind people. Their faction is found in the outer section of the city, they wear reds and oranges and are responsible for growing the harvest that feed the rest of us, they're our farmers. There's abnegation, for those who are selfless, they lead a simple life that's very plain for example they wear greys and their homes have no character but they are devoted to helping the rest of society, especially those who don't belong anywhere ( We call them factionless, nobody knows what they do other than scavenge in the shadows). I admire Abnegation for not being selfish, it must get hard at times to think of anything but themselves but we call them stiffs. Finally there's my faction, Dauntless. We're seen as crazy, most people fear us because we're covered in tattoos piercings and wear black clothes all the time, other's respect us because we are the soldiers and police of the city. We value bravery and believe the war broke out because of cowardly actions.

I stared down at the swarms of coloured clothes mixing with each other on their way to their daily duties as the train passed over the top of the city centre on the metal rails. I sighed and pulled myself to my feet knowing that the stop would be up ahead, most of the dauntless teenagers were at a run down building at the north end of town. It was where all the deserted factories were that have been classed as "unsafe" but it was the only place we could go without being given rules. At the compound Max usually allows us to do what we want but a lot of the time it's too crowded or you run into soldiers who are training. That's why a group of us found this place, it's where we can train and fight each other or just hang out without the presence of certain people everybody despised.

I walked to the back of the carriage and waited until the edge of the building passed before sprinting and jumping, the adrenaline rushing through my veins as I fell through mid air landing with a role on the rooftop of the factory. I managed to get back onto my feet pretty quickly as I jogged towards the door that was cracked open by a brick meaning people were already here. As I ran down the metal staircase the sound of music got louder leaving a smile on my face. I followed the sound towards the training room where a bunch of people were surrounding the ring chanting and laughing at whoever was fighting in the middle. I scanned the room and jogged over to my two best friends who were sat on some rails watching in amusement from above.

"Hey guys," I smiled at Luke and Sam who I've known since I was a little kid. They were brothers, Luke was in my year, we were both 16 now and Sam was 14.

"Hey Naiomi , You won't guess who's found our spot," Luke rolled his eyes, his voice slightly irritated and nodded at the ring but I couldn't see who was there due to the barrier of people blocking my view.

"Who?" I asked climbing up the metal rungs myself to sit with them before my eyes locked on to the fighters at the centre of all the attention. I groaned when I realized who it was.
