Riya's phone buzzed again. Another message from Ayaan. Her heart skipped a beat before she even looked at the screen.

"Did you eat lunch?"

It was such a simple question, but it made her cheeks warm. She typed back slowly, "Not yet... thinking of ordering something."

Almost instantly, Ayaan replied: "Order something you like... I'll wait for your food story later 😄"

Riya giggled softly. His messages, small as they were, made her feel noticed. Someone actually cared about what she was doing, even in the tiniest moments.

The day continued like this. Every few hours, their phones would buzz—sometimes a meme, sometimes a random question, sometimes just a shy emoji. Each message made their hearts flutter, building a quiet connection neither of them fully understood yet.

By evening, Riya found herself scrolling through their conversation, rereading messages she had sent and received. She realized she smiled more than she had all day. Her friends noticed too, teasing her about being "glued to her phone," but she didn't mind. She didn't care if Ayaan knew how shy she could be—she felt safe letting him in, one little text at a time.

Meanwhile, Ayaan stared at his phone too, fingers hovering over the keyboard, hesitant. He wanted to say something more, something that would make her laugh or maybe even blush, but the words refused to come. Instead, he sent a small message:

"I hope your day wasn't too boring."

Riya's reply came quickly, with a laughing emoji: "Not at all... talking to you made it better 😌"

Ayaan's chest tightened. That tiny sentence, so simple, felt like a huge victory. It was more than he had hoped for, and it made him want to keep talking to her, learning her little quirks, sharing his own, and building something that neither of them could yet name.

As the night fell, both of them lay in bed, phones in hand, smiling at the screen. The world outside didn't matter. For them, in that quiet, glowing bubble of messages, hearts were slowly drawing closer—one shy, gentle word at a time.
