1989....The soviet army recently pulled out of afghanstan, the union seems to be at its breaking point, most people could care less and would rather leave to west germany or even to the british or yankees but, Meanwhile in a highrise building, Alexei Tarasov, a 19 year old, who recently joined the red army as a Spetsnaz, unlike most soldiers he's never seen any real combat due to his father's connections as head of the KGB and due to his connections he was put in the Spetsnaz after about three weeks.

Alexei was on his bed reading a book. His father was in the room as well. He wanted to talk to him but Alexei was uninterested and wanted to be left alone, Andrey looked at him and said "Alexei you aren't a child anymore you need to stop with this and- can you at least look at me when I'm talking to you?"

Alexei drops the book and it falls on his chest "I don't understand why the hell I have to even be in the army, dad thats all i'm saying." Alexei sits up on his bed making eye contact

His father Andrey looks at him, fixing his glasses "You aren't even supposed to be here, you should be at the base in fact i should have had you join when they were in Afghanistan maybe that would teach you something"

Alexei sat up and replied "Look dad I just don't want to talk right now, alright? And I didn't ask for you to make me a Lieutenant okay?"

Andrey sighed. He wasn't disappointed nor mad, but he just couldn't help feeling he doesn't have that same connection with his son he did all those years ago "I just want you to be okay..this will benefit you my son. I don't want you to struggle once I'm gone, Alexei? Why don't we go somewhere just the two of us, nothing work related"

Alexei got off his bed and stretched his expressions soften " You know that isn't what i meant...But alright where are we going?"

His father looks at him with a softer, more calm expression "we're going to the red square"

Alexei looks confused "What? Why? We don't go all the way to Moscow unless it's for your work"

Andrey grabs his jacket and car keys "is it too much to ask for an old man to want to spend some time with his son?" Alexei sighs Andrey smiles "Come now, we can take some photos on the way there you still have that camera i got you no?"

Alexei opens his desk drawer and takes out a FED-3 "Of course you got it when I joined the army so are we moving or are we just gonna stand?"

Andrey laughs "Yes yes, Come on then ill hold the elevator" they exit their home unit a neighbor who was getting mail waves at Andrey since they used to know each other from parties he'd host in the building

"Ah! Tarasov it's been awhile since we've seen you or Alexei come by" the neighbor says while fixing their suit

Andrey laughs "Well maybe you should learn to find some better music, comrade!" They both laugh but Alexei stays quiet because he has this odd gut feeling that this will not go how it's planned but he can't just say something about it to his dad because when will they have the chance to spend time together , once they leave the building. they get in Andery's car a VAZ-2101 Alexei never understood why they had it but i guess Andery liked to feel normal and not like the head of the KGB but even Alexei knew there were more better cars out there
