Darling! I called out for my husband where he was in his study room doing work. "Darling! I have something to tell you". "What?" He replied as he still look at his work and didn't care about what his wife going to say.
"It's... it's happening again, David. I'm pregnant." I stood there, hands trembling at my sides, watching his face darken like a storm rolling in. "You promised me... after the doctors said—"
"Then go to the clinic and fix it," he snapped, not even looking up from his papers. "You always were too weak to handle anything."
Tears burned behind my eyes, but I held them back. For this baby. I won't let him erase them like he did before. The anger boiled inside me, but I swallowed my words. "I won't do that. I can't."
David slammed his hands on the desk, standing up. His eyes burned into me. "I swear, Eve, don't get any stupid ideas in that pretty little head of yours. You will get an abortion. I won't let you have this baby just like last time."
A shiver passed through me, but I stood my ground. I'd made this mistake before—trusting him, giving in. Never again.
"I won't do it." The room seemed to shrink as his face twisted. He stalked over to me, grabbing my wrist. His fingers dug painfully into my skin.
"You will obey me. You're my wife, you will do what I say. But if you still don't obey me. You handle it yourself." He warned me and that, I know that it won't be easy.
I yanked my arm back, heart pounding—not from fear, but fury. "Fine. Lock me in. But this baby will be born."
I turned sharply, walking toward the door, voice low but fierce.
"Just remember... I may be trapped in these walls—but you can't chain my soul."
He was quiet as I walked away. I expected—and feared—the sound of his footsteps, him stalking after me, yanking me back inside.
But he stayed. I knew he was watching me like a predator from the doorway as I headed down the hall. I'd won this one small battle. I'd protect this baby. I'd love the baby with everything I had, something he'd never truly understand.
