Her upbringing still showed in Chelsea’s choice of clothing to this day, as the loose baby blue jumper with thigh for miles, the cowboy boots, and leather lace tied around her head would show. Only instead of handmade dresses her mom would upcycle, her clothes came from the same stores Sera shopped in. She still did the green thing given the chance- she only wore cruelty free leather goods and she most definitely didn’t wear fur- but there still wasn’t a very large market of clothing for those with a more conservative-minded view of the world. Though she was going to change that when she finished school.
Chels had a double major going, international business and economics. Her goal was to open a chain of stores that not only sold environmentally friendly clothing and accessories, but also acted as a non-profit charity for those supplying the goods.
Not bad for a girl who everyone assumed was your everyday dumb blonde.
There wasn’t enough support for the little guys, she always said. And her share in her parent’s company was more than enough money for her to live and raise a family on.
A family, there was something Sera had never penciled into her future.
“So you need any help getting ready?” Chelsea asked innocently as she sat and filed her nails on the edge of the tub, “I got time.”
“If I say no, will you put back the clothes you picked out for me?”
Sera was going for dry, but the quirk of her lip gave her away. Chels was only trying to help after all.
She gave an overdramatic sigh, “I swear it’s completely normal this time. A white skirt and that blue rhinestone top you picked out when we went shopping on Fifth last time we were home.”
By home Chelsea meant the last time that were at her parent’s house in New York. Though even they liked to consider that Sera’s home as well, “I guess that’s alright,” she mused, “and the shoes?”
“Your grey ballet flats,” Chelsea said without looking up from her nails, “figured you wouldn’t want a heel if you’re going to be on your feet all night.”
“Good deal,” Sera grinned, “thanks Chels.”
“No problem,” she said as she looked up to Sera thoughtfully, “want me to set your hair while you do your make-up?”
“Sure,” Sera said with a chuckle as she shook her head, “let me get it somewhat dry and I’ll meet you out there.”
A big bathroom it may be compared to the stalls downstairs, it wasn’t built to be shared and there really wasn’t enough room for two girls to get ready at the same time. So to avoid fights over the mirror and sink they had a vanity worthy of any backstage production set up in their sleeping/living area.
And Sera was willing to bet the hot rollers were already ready to go atop said vanity.
It took her a good ten minutes to get her wet hair to damp with the blow dryer, and then another fifteen for Chels to set it in the rollers for her. By that time she was done with her makeup and Chelsea had taken off for the first floor to check on preparations.
There were three floors to their building that once served as your typical boring dormitory, the plain rectangular building being divided in the middle by a set of stars that they used as the dividing line between the boy and girl sides of the house. Not that there wasn’t plenty of intermingling, it was a university after all, but there were designated sleeping areas. The third floor was reserved for the officers, the second for the newer members, and then the first consisted of the common kitchen, meeting/dining, games, and living room.
