If you told me the tide and sea were brothers. The sun and moon were enemies. And the water and land were lovers, I would have never believed you. But now I see it. The tide and sea fighting and raging for company and their own makings. The sun and moon fighting for their time in the spotlight. And the water and land dancing with each other. If you had a story with these tropes tell me, would it be rivals to lovers or a sibling rivalry over a spouse. Would it end in tragedy or something else?
For once if the sea and moon graced hands they thought each other beautiful. The moon says the cruel fights that the tide and sea had but still found the sea peaceful and kind. And the sea saw the rare times that the moon outshone the sun. For their beauty was surreal in that natural sky spotlight. But they found each other too far to hold. They turned to others. Strangers in the homes that they had. The moon found comfort with the stars. The sea found romance with the mini waters. They went by many names. Ponds, swamps, lakes, rivers. But all had one thing in common. They always ran back to the sea. But not in the same way the moon did. The sea still called for the moon. For it had sung of tales where it yearned for the moon's embrace. But it was too far to touch. It's celestial body too famous to be with and be treated fairly. But what was it that made you fall so hard as well? Maybe the way they smiled and blushed. Maybe the way they laughed and spoke. Or maybe it was the look in their eyes and the way they listened. Who knows. Will you answer the calls you hear? Or will you fade into the night with the stars like the moon? Will you outshine everyone else? Or will you stay with the sea? Your humble love who will never be as pretty?
The moon's hand finally held her face in it's palms, her smile sweet and loving as she teared up.
"You're still as pretty as the day I saw you."
The moon said, her voice low and in a whisper of sweet nothings. The sea smiled, her beautiful eyes shining in the light that bounced off the moon's face.
"You're as beautiful as the day I lost you.."
Her voice trailed off with sadness. Her eyes filling with tears as they embraced each other in a hug.
