Prologue

The scientist's feet pounded hard against the snow, his hands clenched tight around the bag as he sprinted through the forest, dodging trees and animals left and right like a snake weaving through the grass. He could hear the wolves howling behind him, and it didn't instill much confidence with how close they sounded.

The bag in his hands was thrumming, vibrating with that comforting hum he was used to due to his studies.

He erupted from the tree line and collapsed to the ground in exhaustion, praying to whatever god or gods existed that the wolves wouldn't come out into the open and would stay in the trees.

But when he felt claws dig into his back, he knew the gods had abandoned him.

A/N: Hey guys! Been a while hasn't it? Yeah unfortunately I'm still alive, get over it.

This is an old story I wrote way back in like high school for my creative writing class that I never got further than like one chapter in cuz it got me the grade I needed to pass.

But hey! Now it's here and it's official! I think I may have also posted this prior to now here on Wattpad? But I don't recall so have this instead.
