The tiny studio space wasn't like the glossy press rooms Jackson was used to. Instead of a table with cue cards, there was a neon sign glowing in the background and a phone rigged up on a tripod—Kole's signature setup for his TikTok/IG interview channel.
"Three, two, one—" Kole snapped his fingers, the red light flashing. His grin was immediate, bold, practiced.
"Alright guys, today we have the Jackson Wang in the house, promoting his brand new album. You already know this is about to be chaotic, so let's go!"
Jackson laughed right away, shaking his head. "Chaotic? You're calling it already?"
"I mean... it's you." Kole shot back, voice confident, but his chest buzzed with nerves. Okay, that was smooth, right? Not too much?
The questions rolled on, quickfire style, perfect for clips. Favorite track, funniest studio moment, what snack keeps him alive during rehearsals. Jackson answered with his usual charm, but his eyes kept flicking to Kole—there was something about the way this guy leaned in, like every word mattered.
Then Kole asked the one that always made fans go crazy:
"So, Jackson... what's your type?"
Jackson smirked, leaning back, ready to play along. "I've answered this a million times. You first. What's your type?"
Kole didn't miss a beat. He leaned forward, eyes steady on Jackson.
"Person who knows how to sing, rap, maybe even choreography. Lived in Korea for a while. Chinese."
The words came out smooth, bold. Inside, Kole was screaming. Oh my god. Did I just say that? Is this okay? Too much?
The silence hit. Even the camera seemed to stop buzzing.
Jackson blinked, his smile faltering into something slower, deeper. For once, he didn't have a quick joke.
Kole raised an eyebrow, holding the silence like it was a challenge. His hands under the desk were clenched tight.
Finally, Jackson chuckled, almost to himself.
"You're dangerous, you know that?"
The camera was still rolling. Kole smirked for the lens, masking his panic.
"Guess the fans will decide."
Later, when the clip went viral—fans dissecting the pause, the look in Jackson's eyes, the grin on Kole's face—Kole replayed the moment a hundred times. Every time, his inner voice whispered: was that okay? or did I just start something I can't take back?
