Chapter one
The mysterious disappearances
[Hawkins Indiana]

y

oung boy in a yellow raincoat chased a paper boat down the neighborhood road as it rained heavily. The little boy wasn't paying attention to where he was going and hit his head on a yellow road barrier, making him fall as the paper boat went further, accidentally falling into the gutter.

"Aw man..." The little boy mumbled as he got up and walked towards the gutter. He looked through the gutter trying to see where his paper boat landed as a van parked behind him.

[Quantico Virginia]

""Hawkins Indiana has had five missing children in the last month. The newest missing child is 6-year-old George Elmer Denbrough, who went missing two weeks ago on October 2nd, and yesterday his amputated arm was found behind a tree by his older brother and some other neighborhood kids at around 6: 06 pm." Penelope Garcia purposely looked away from the television showing a school photo of a little boy with brown straight hair and a missing tooth and a photo of an arm that had a bloody yellow raincoat sleeve next to it

Garcia presses a button on the remote showing a photo of two little black girls: "The first two that went missing were two sisters that went missing on September 2nd after last being seen at a local park and were found three days later in the same park. The older sister, Lauren McGraw, 15 years old, was found without her eyes and whole left leg. The younger sister, Natalie McGraw, 4 years old, was found without her right hand. Penelope clicked the remote again, switching photos.

"The third was a 13-year-old named Betty Ripson. She was also last seen in that park at around 12 a.m. on September 10th, and she wasn't reported at all, but the next day only one half of her body was found in the local creek."

Garcia clicked the remote again, showing new photos of another crime scene: a blonde little boy. "The 4th was 8-year-old Daniel Summers. He went missing on September 26th and was last seen at 7 am walking to his bus stop and was reported missing at the end of the school day when the school called his mother since he hadn't shown up to school, and he was found on October 1st in the local woods without either of his arms and his eyes gouged out like the first victim" with another click of the remote changed the photos again

"The fifth child's case is a bit of a doozy. Jenna Greenberg was a 16-year-old girl who was last seen leaving her job at her family's restaurant at roughly 7:00 p.m. on September 29th by her uncle. And was found behind the Theater and a dumpster by a local homeless person without her fingers and her ears in Hawkins, but she isn't from there. She was last seen in Sunnyvale. A whole county over which means we will be having to deal with two different sheriffs."

"Are there any similarities between the Hawkins victims to make us think it's the same perpetrator? The perpetrator crossed age and race lines?" Emily asked, looking over the file on the table.

"Yes, Betty Ripson, Lauren McGraw, and Daniel Summers took the same k through 12 art lessons at the community center, most often being taught by the local elementary school first grade teacher, Mrs Cecile. And Daniel Summers and George Denbrough were in Mrs Cecile's class and Mrs Cecile is the current main suspect by the Hawkins Police," Garcia replied by clicking the remote again, showing a photo of a roughly 35-year-old woman whose hair was already going gray.

"Were there any signs of sexual assault?" Reid asked.

"Thankfully not."

"Why weren't we called in earlier?" JJ asked.

"Great question. Hawkins old police chief Oscar Bowers did not believe that all of these cases were related, but he had a heart attack last Sunday and had to step down from being sheriff and his replacement, Jim Hopper, is a bit more reasonable and Jenna Greenberg was only identified yesterday," Garcia answered.

Hotchner opened his mouth after a few awkward seconds of silence "Wheels up in ten."

The living world is a dream. The nocturnal dream is reality.
