The Forbidden Basement.

Everyone has that one thing in their house that is forbidden to them. It could be an attic or even an underground basement. Emily's mother inherited a four-bedroom mansion that was located outside of their town. It was a house filled with many secrets that should be left hidden, as some secrets, when revealed, have consequences that no one would ever imagine.
Emily's mother, Marla, inherited the mansion through her great-aunt Carla, a woman with many secrets that no one knows but herself.
Frank, Emily's dad, died in a car accident, and now all the responsibilities fall into Marla's arms. It was too much for her, especially having two kids who would need a lot of things in their lives.
Emily would need a lot of things, especially when she had just started high school and her younger brother Max had just started junior high school. And there are bills to be paid.
As soon as Marla was ready to move into the mansion, the lawyer had some documents for her to sign for the house.
Marla has already been given instructions about the basement and what must be done.
Before signing the documents, her great-aunt's lawyer gave Marla a set of rules that her family needed to follow when they moved into the mansion.
The rules are:
1-Never leave the lights on in the dining room after finishing dinner.
2-Never go to the basement after dark.
3-Never leave the children alone in the house, especially at night.
4-Never let your children go to the basement, especially after dinnertime.
5-Always leave some meat outside of the basement. The meat is in the freezer and already labelled.
6-Never let your children read the rules; just explain them.
7-Last but not least, never let anyone into the main bedroom.
8-And the last rule is very important: never leave the basement door open. It should always be closed.
Marla looked shocked when she finished reading the rules before the lawyer.
"These are weird rules."
"Yes, I guess they are. Your great aunt loved her privacy, and she would've loved for her house to be the same way as it was after her death," the lawyer sternly explains to her. "So before you sign these documents, I suggest you think before agreeing to the terms and conditions that your aunt has for you," he added, looking at his watch as if he wanted to be somewhere else and not where he was.
Marla thought about what the house could bring, especially when she had just lost her husband almost two months ago due to a car accident. That's when she decided to sign the documents for the house.
"Nice doing business with you. Here is a copy of the rules for you, and make sure you follow them. If you didn't, then there will be a lot of consequences," he added, gathering the documents, promising them copies in a day, and then handing the house keys to Marla.
The only thing left was to tell her kids that they were moving into a different house, but thankfully, in the same town. This means that her kids won't change schools, but they will have a driver who will take them to school every day.
"Mum, are you sure about this?" Emily asks her mother as they are in the car, heading to the mansion at the end of the town.
"Yes, we need to move because, according to Great-Aunt Carla's will, we must move there in a week after the reading of the will," her mother explained to her daughter. "At least you don't have to change schools, right?" she added, smiling at her daughter, especially when she is her age to date.
"Mum, how much more?" her young son asked while playing on his phone.
"In about half an hour. You guys will have your own rooms and everything different from before," Marla explained to her kids, trying to make them like the house before they moved in.
"Thats great. At least now we don't have to wait for each other while using the bathroom," Emily says, grinning, knowing that she could take the showers that she always wanted to have.
In about an hour, they arrived at a huge gate that was supposed to be opened by the remote. Thankfully, the lawyer had already delivered the documents and the remote to Marla before the moving day.
"Wow"!!
Both of the kids were awed as soon as they saw the huge gate, and when they saw their mother remove the remote from her bag and press the red button to open it, it was like magic for them, especially when they didn't have to think about paying rent.
Marla smiled as soon as she saw her kids' faces light up when they saw the huge mansion. It was like they were in a dream and didn't want to wake up.
She parked the car, and the three of them got out and were met by the butler, who was waiting for them outside the door.
As soon as the butler saw them getting out of the car, he and the other three staff walked toward the car to help them with their luggage and to show them to their rooms.
"Hello, my name is Mattias Ruiz. I was your great-aunt's butler, and now I am yours. These three are the cook and the maids. Their names are Ruth and Lisa. They will show you to your rooms while I take your bags with me," the butler explains to the family. Without even letting them reply, he urged the maids to do their jobs, leaving Emily and her mother speechless.
"Hey, be careful. I could help you..."
"No need, madam. We can manage them," Mattias interrupts her. "Come this way, please," he said as he continued to call more people to carry the bags.
This is a strange man. At least now we have shelter on our heads, and I won't need to take the third job just to afford a house like this.
A few days after they moved in, Marla obeyed every single rule that the lawyer had given her, but one fateful evening, Emily would be curious as to what was inside the forbidden basement.
It was a normal night when Marla got the meat that was labelled Wednesday and brought it to the basement door. She quickly opened the door and placed the meat inside, and then she closed the door, hoping that whatever was inside there didn't hear her breathing.
As soon as she went upstairs to her room, Emily was intrigued as to why her mother would always take meat from the freezer and take it to the basement.
I need to know why Mom does this, especially when the freezer is also locked, just like in the basement. And why is it called the forbidden basement, and why do they have to follow certain rules?
Emily wanted to take her brother with her, but she knew that he would go and tell their mother what they were planning. So she decided to plan and get to the basement to find out what great-aunt Carla was hiding inside.
She slowly walked into her mother's room, only to find Marla in the bathroom, taking a shower. She decided to look for the keys, which she found near the bedside table.
Finally!
She walked out of her mother's room and rushed downstairs to the basement, praying and hoping that no one would see or hear her footsteps.
Emily takes a deep breath and twists the key that is in the keyhole. But she was surprised to find that the meat that her mother had placed was already gone, and the blood stench was too much for her. She walked inside and heard growling that was coming from the furthest end of the basement.
"Who is there?" a frightened Emily asks.
But all she got was more growling, which made her feel scared.
"Shh!! Stop your growling and let her come inside so that we have a proper meal other than the piece of meat that we have to share every day. We need to have a proper meal to get out of this forsaken basement she kept us in ever since she captured us," a raspy voice says, making the growling stop. "Come inside, young one," the voice added melodiously, dragging Emily's body inside the basement.
The voice became a siren for Emily as she walked inside the room without trying to protest, even though her mind was telling her not to move closer but her body was doing the opposite.
"Emily stop"!
But that didn't work, as the voice had already taken over Emily's body and mind.
Before the door closed, the creatures walked into the light and gave Marla an evil grin, as if they were saying that they had now won even after years of being held captive by Great-Aunt Carla.
