EXT. PARK - NIGHT

Maya hangs dead from a tree, her neck bruised and swollen from the rope tied around it. Swaying slowly and ominously back and forth. You can see the moonlight's reflection off her dry eyes.Her Hair looks wet it is cut short dyed jet black. Her clothes are athletic and dusty, looks worn. The skin you could see was muddy and turns paler by the minute.

FRANCINE (V.O.)

Meet my friend Maya. She used to be so full of life. No pun intended. What happened to her, I don't fully know, probably never will. What I do know, is that this was no suicide.

SUPER: 16 months earlier

EXT. OUTSIDE OF DORMITORY - DAY

Families are parked outside the front of the dormitory, unpacking car fulls of clothes and gadgets. You could hear the nervous chatter of the freshman as they gossip about each other and the future of the school year, as they move in. People had suitcases, Cookware, Fans, and etc.

INT. DORMITORY - DAY

FRANCINE and her family walks down the hallway till they reach her new room. Everyone carries a suitcase, or box. Francine: Born a Black Girl. Her skin was about two shades lighter than caramel. She has super curly coils. Her hair is dark. She is very pretty, She is on the thicker side and looks soft.

FRANCINE (V.O.) CONTINUED

We were all so excited for our first year of college. We had no idea of what being in college actually meant.

INT. DORM ROOM -DAY

Francine and her best friend ANDREA moves into the dorm together. Francine's family helps her set up her side of the room and Andrea's family is helping with her's.

Andrea: Born a black girl. Dark smooth even colored skin. Her body was slim and athletic. You could tell she plays some type of sport Her hair was long, kinky and curly.

Both families laugh and talk about old memories, and what St. Louis used to be like when Francine and Andrea's mom's were their age.

FRANCINE MOM

No girl, do you remember the drive in?

Francine's mom sets up a tv on the dresser that is adjacent to the door. The door to the dorm is open. A fan is on and in the window.

ANDREA MOM

Girl! In Hi Pointe! On Thursday nights! Girl that's where this baby was made.

Andrea's mom gestures to andrea and the families erupt in laughter.

ANDREA

Gross, gonna go die now, talk to you guys later.

Out the corner of Francine's eye she catches a glimpse of a girl who was about 5'8 with tan skin, and ombre blonde hair walks by the room and stares closely as she walks by. Francine and the girl locked eyes. The girl's eyes are the most gorgeous shade of hazel.

FRANCINE SISTER 1

So you want your bed facing away from or toward the door?

Francine's sister distracts her from her glance outside the door. Her sister grips one side of her Twin XL bed.
