"Me too. I'm hungry."
"I'm sure she'll give you something. Let's go." Randall said.
They continued across the street. It was in a calm suburban area of the city. It was a big blue two-story house. It didn't have other houses attached like in some other neighborhoods of San Francisco.
"You go on first. I'll wait out here." Randall said. "And don't say anything about me having come with you. I can't be seen."
"Okay. I'll let you in soon, just stay close."
"I will, kid. Now go."
Barry sighed and went up onto the porch, ringing the doorbell. Randall watched from a distance, invisible.
The door opened up and a brown haired woman opened it. "Barry? Ron, it's Barry!" The woman exclaimed happily. She knelt down to hug him tightly. "We heard what happened to your parents and you were missing. We didn't think we'd see you again." Tears were in her eyes.
"I'm alright, Aunt Carol." Barry hugged her back.
A red haired man came out of the house. "Barry!" He came out and hugged him too. "How did you get here?"
"I walked, took a tram and even a bus, plus more walking." Barry explained.
"We're lucky we have those modes of transportation in our city." Carol said. "We're just glad to see you're alright. What happened?"
"Dad had filmed some criminals doing drugs and he gave me this tape to keep and give to police to convict them. They found out and broke in and killed him and Mom. I ran. I got away and stayed hidden." Barry had kept his promise about not mentioning Randall.
"We have to get that to the police right away then." Ron declared. "And tell them you have been found."
"I'm exhausted. I need some rest before I can go on much more. I need food and rest. Can we do it tomorrow?" Barry pleaded.
"Alright. First thing in the morning." Carol agreed.
They let the boy inside. Randall stayed outside to keep an eye on things and made sure they weren't followed. Barry had left him his bag. Randall got his bag and headed for the back yard. He would keep a low profile but he really hoped that gang hadn't tracked them down. Staying outside for the time being was okay. It was just for safekeeping. He thought about staying around for a little while to just make sure the boy and his family were safe. There was a shed out back that he could stay in, or in the tree temporarily. The yard was fenced in.
Inside, Carol fixed Barry some dinner. He looked exhausted for a young boy. He had been on the run from his parents' killers after all. His little cousin, Kim was in there watching him eating.
His aunt and uncle had often babysat Barry many times. They had a bedroom for him. But now, he was going to be their responsibility to raise like their own son. He was only seven. It was sad he lost his parents so young.
Ron called the police to let them know that Barry had been found and that he had an evidence tape that showed his parents' killers. The cops responded to that call.
Two cops came over. They knocked and were let in. Barry had to talk to the police detectives about what had happened last night. He handed over the tape too. Barry was the only witness to the crime now. He hadn't seen what was on the tape but he had seen his parents get murdered. Once again though, Barry didn't say anything about his lifesaver.
The detectives were glad that the boy had told them what happened and they took the tape as evidence. But there were chances that the bad guys could still come after the family too. If they knew his dad's name, they could track the family down by tracking down relatives too and know the boy came here.
