So I had a crush on Jessie since the beginning of the year. I thought he was cute. My teacher is to blame. She is the one who sat us next to each other in the middle of 8th grade. I was never going to talk to him if she didn’t sit him behind me. This guy drove me nuts even when I wasn’t sitting in front of him! You see, for some reason I had this deep urge to be teachers pet. I know, how dorky is that, right? Well, Jessie always seemed to get our teachers attention before I did. He always got one more point on a test than I did. Or his weekly essay always had better grammar than mine. It got me so mad when he seemed more of a teachers pet than I did. And now, I sat next to him! Oh what fun this was going to be. NOT!
I mean, at the time, sure I was stoked that my crush was sitting by me. I was a little self-conscious though. I mean would you like if your crush were staring at the back of your head for an hour and a half everyday. Anyways, I guess the back of my head is quite attractive. He couldn’t help himself. He was always twirling my hair around and telling me to turn around and talk to him. It took me about 2 weeks to get tired of him bugging me.
Finally, when I got sick of him kicking my chair every 5 seconds I turned around and slipped him a note. My teacher shocked me when she said, “that wasn’t very sneaky, Miranda.” See, I was already getting in trouble for talking to this jerk. sigh
“What do you want?” the note said. He replied shortly, “you. ;)”
That’s when I crumbled up the note and threw it in his face. It was funny. He actually looked embarrassed! That’s what he deserved for being such a pervert. Right? I mean what girl is going to fall for that cheesy pick-up line?
Me I guess. But think of it like this. I already had feelings for this guy! So if your crush of about 3 months told you he wanted you, what would you do? The fact that he wrote he wanted me wasn’t what reeled me in either. It was the fact that he was actually showing interest in me in the first place!
So I went home that day and didn’t really put much thought into him. Okay, that’s a total lie. He is all I was thinking about actually. That’s the day that I really thought about him deeply. I know that was a horrible thing to do considering girls that dissect every little thing a guy does or says to them are pretty stupid, but I was never that type of girl. I started thinking what it meant when he played with my hair every day and told me I had beautiful hair. Why I caught him looking at me during lunch instead of talking to his friends. Why he always teased me. Obviously there was something there. Right?
Deep down, I knew there was probably nothing there. So I treated it that way. I promised myself from that day on I would completely ignore everything that he did or said to me. Then I realized first hand that the saying “easier said then done” isn’t just some silly phrase someone came up with.
