Moonstone wyverns are radiant dragons of the earth element coated in smooth scales with a special iridescence type involved with how light scatters between microscopic layers creating a glowing effect. Moonstone wyvern wings are crescent shaped and extend from the forearms. Typical colours are grey, silvery white, milky white, reddish brown and blue through the special iridescence. Some moonstone wyverns have long angular snouts from saltwater pearl wyvern ancestry. The origin of moonstone wyverns stems from the union of pearl wyverns and crystal wyverns. They take more after crystal wyverns in leading a landbased life; however some who can breathe underwater live in fresh or saltwater bodies.

Abilities: All moonstone wyverns can fly near cloud level and travel large distances between islands. Burrowing is a natural ability allowing for the creation of connecting tunnels and artificial caves. Like crystal wyverns they can absorb sunlight as an energy source contributing to a quarter of nutrition. Sunlight can be extracted from the sun, moon or stars. Other light sources provide a more meagre amount but are valid. Light can also help revitalise a tired or injured moonstone wyvern. Those moonstone wyverns with longer snouts can breathe in saltwater and tolerate freshwater for an hour. Other moonstone wyverns are hatched with gills to breathe in freshwater and can survive in the sea for one hour. A rare ability inherited from crystal wyverns is extending and morphing body parts into different shapes, most commonly spikes or blades, but also hammers and various tools by the more creative.

Diamond wyverns are considered the most beautiful and durable of all gem wyverns. The males have long sharp snouts ending in a point. Female snouts are short and triangular. A crest consisting of four horizontal resembling shards of diamond is located on top of the head. When diamond wyverns are hatchlings their scales are irregular and rough like raw diamonds however smooth out as they get older and come to resemble the surface of a polished diamond. The tails are narrow and whip-like, ending a sharp tail tip. White is the most common scale colour however these wyverns can come in a range of colours, yellow is an exceptionally rare and prized colour.

Subspecies: Paragon wyverns are a subspecies considered to be the pinnacle of diamond wyverns. They are twice as big as the average size of diamond wyverns. Their scales are more polished and symmetrical than any other of their kind. Paragons are naturally stronger than the other diamond wyverns due to size but are slower because of it. The traditional fours horns are instead six, three at either side in a row. They are more durable than any other diamond or gem wyvern and once ruled as higher beings of a powerful and tyrannical empire.

Melee diamond wyverns are a small variant only a quarter the size of the main species of diamond wyvern and are the most sociable living in clusters. Due to the small size, melee diamond wyverns are the fastest subspecies and the weakest in terms of physical strength. Their high speed is complimented by a strong stamina allowing melee wyvern to run for miles. They also only have two horns.

The most common subspecies are the four horned diamond wyverns and possess average speed and strength compared to the other subspecies. They are dubbed adamant wyverns due to the natural durability and hardness of diamond wyverns. They make up most of the population of diamond wyverns. They are decently strong and fast compared to other wyvern species but also act as a physical balance between the two other subspecies.

General abilities: Nearly unscratchable scales only able to be cut by a few things including diamond. Flight via wings, skilled at flying in narrow spaces due to living underground. Eyes adapted to seeing in low light environments and partially able to see in darkness. Diamond wyverns can burrow with their claws like all ore wyverns. This ability is used to cave homes and new rooms. Light, mainly sunlight can be used to gain nutrients absorbed through the crystal scales. Sunlight is the most potent source however beams from the moon, stars and artificial sources suffice. Some rare individuals inherit the power of crystal wyverns to shift parts of their body into various forms including reinforced head, blades and spines.

Gold wyverns are covered in soft scales mimicking the lustre of the very precious metal. The ears are more than the slits many reptiles have. They stick out like cow ears and resemble the shape of a teardrop. Long horns spiralling up jut from the head. Wings extend from forearms. Five digits protrude from the front paws ending in long curved talons. The tail is long and slender.

Abilities: Breathing out a golden fire exploding into several flames all the colours of the rainbow. Scales are soft but resistant to extreme heat and fire. Wings are capable of flight at cloud level but no higher. Talons and limbs can burrow into the land to create dens or tunnels. Fingers are flexible enough to wield a variety of tools and write.
