It was a bright day as I set up for the farmers market. I always loved fall days like these. Seeing friendly faces. Getting things nice and set up.

Sometimes the days were slow. It was a small town, so I recognized some familiar faces. I always loved catching up with the booths around me.

Today was just as any other day. A few people in and out. Folks grabbing what they needed. Some from out of town, visiting.

But a new person caught my eye as she stood by my booth. Her hair was down. I couldn't see her face. She looked through a few random plants.

Until I noticed a tattoo on her wrist as she went through. I knew that tattoo....

Carmen Smith.

It was her. I knew it was. She didn't even look around. Her head was down.

The same girl that kept me awake at night for the past ten years.

The girl I never forgot.

The girl that left me once we graduated. The woman that I had a ring for the summer after high school. But she had other plans for her life. Other plans overseas.

I hadn't seen her in over ten years. Ten goddamn years.

She found a plant, coming over. She set it down, going through her purse.

"Just this." She said.

"Well I didn't think I would see you back here." I said. She looked up, confused. But then her face faded.

"Oh my gosh. Cole..."

I smiled, packing the plant up. "Hi Carm."

"Holy shit. Cole! I barely recognized you. You look great."

"Yeah. So do you."

She chuckled. "I umm- I didn't realize you still worked the market."

"Yeah. Took it over for my parents."

"They still have the farm?"

"Of course." I said.

"How are they? How's your sister?"

"Good. Everyone's good. Just trucking along in this town. Why you back? Visiting your parents?"

"Well I am visiting my parents. But I just got a job here in the states a few months ago. Connecticut."

"Oh. Wow. I thought you would've stayed in Europe for the rest of your life."

"I umm...I thought so too. But I've lived one day at a time."
