Kyle's POV

If someone told me six months ago I’d be sitting in the private elevator of Silviero Corp, riding up to the thirty-fifth floor to meet one of the most powerful and most terrifying CEOs in the country, I would’ve laughed in their face. Probably mid-sip of a two-hundred-peso iced coffee I could barely afford.

But here I am.

Wearing a slightly-too-tight button-down and praying it hides the sweat blooming across my lower back. I check my reflection in the gold panel of the elevator. Hair: tamed. Lips: bitten to hell. Eyes: tired, but fake-confident. I can work with this.

Now?

Now I’m counting the seconds before the doors open and I get to meet the Damien Silviero.

The man behind Silviero Corp. The empire of steel, finance, and silent scandals. CEO since he was twenty-eight. Midas touch on business. Devil’s mouth in courtrooms. Ice in his veins. No one sees him outside of boardrooms and billion-peso deals.

No interviews. No charity galas. No smile in any photo.

Just raw, cold power.

And somehow, I’m about to be his personal secretary.

Which, let’s be clear, wasn’t even the plan.

I applied on a dare. My best friend dared me to submit my half-assed resume to a company that usually hires ex-Ivy Leaguers with robotic personalities and LinkedIn profiles that look like a spreadsheet.

I have none of that.

No business degree. No rich daddy. Just a public school education, an okay GPA, a freelance background in admin work, and a mouth that tends to get me into trouble.

Apparently, that was enough.

Or they were desperate.

Either way, HR called back. Said they were impressed with my “composure” and “communication style.”

Translation: he’s cheeky but hot enough to distract clients.

A week later, I was walking into a minimalist conference room in Makati, where the head of HR smiled like she wanted to adopt me. She told me I’d be assisting directly under the CEO himself, that I should dress sharply, avoid small talk, and her exact words,“try not to take things personally. Mr. Silviero doesn’t like noise.”

Fun. The elevator dings. Game time.

The doors slide open to a hallway that looks like a villain’s lair. Dark marble, polished steel accents, and silence that feels like it’s listening. No receptionist. No music. Just double doors at the far end, wide open like jaws waiting to snap.

I roll my shoulders back. Walk.

Every step echoes.

And then I see him.

Damien Silviero.

The first thing that hits me is how still he is.

Not calm. Still. Like a man who doesn’t move unless it’s to strike.

He sits behind a massive obsidian desk, backlit by glass windows that frame the gray, overcast skyline. Storm clouds gather behind him like a cinematic mood board. He’s in a black suit, shirt crisp and open at the collar. No tie. Jacket unbuttoned. Sleeves rolled to his forearms.
