ALL OF THE ALCOHOL IN Daisy-Jade left once she threw up in the bathroom. She had to. She had to think straight, and she didn't need a buzzed mind to make things worse.
Daisy-Jade was right, all along. Belly did have a crush on Conrad. Not some silly school crush that would be gone in a week, this seemed like a genuine, long-standing crush.
And Conrad Fisher made her think over wisely.
As DJ rinsed out her mouth and brushed her teeth, she could feel her chest build up in regret and frustration for herself. She was stupid to ignore her gut, naïve to think Belly could be her friend, and was hurt that Conrad wouldn't listen.
DJ stayed upstairs, hearing that the party was a bust, something about a dropped cake with a glass stand and someone tripping.
She shut the door and changed out of her dress and into some comfy clothes, taking off her makeup and undoing her hair and putting it in a claw clip.
But once Daisy-Jade started taking off her jewelry, her mind struck an idea and immediately, she began searching the room for the necklace.
Normally, she'd feel bad that she would be scavenging through his belongings and stepping out of line of privacy, but that seemed far out the window right now.
It wasn't until DJ opened one of the drawers of his desk and found a small black velvet box inside.
Her hands were shaking once she held it in her hands. The necklace that was supposed to be Belly's gift seemed to mean to absolute world to her.
Daisy-Jade didn't open it, not yet. She wanted Conrad to explain himself before looking inside.
Putting the box in the pocket of her sweatpants, DJ made her way to the back, but stopped immediately seeing Adam and Conrad talking.
