Victor was out on the couch. Dead to the world. His arm was draped over his eyes like a fainted Renaissance woman.
He snored a bit before murmuring some nonsensical stuff. "Mmmm... who forgot the pickles again?"
Lady Campanula Tottington and Wallace were sitting on either side of Victor. Lady Tottington was giggling at Victor while Wallace just watched intently.
Wallace didn't mean to stare so much, but it's not like Victor would notice, nor would he wake up anytime soon. It's just that Wallace was seeing a completely different side to Victor. He wasn't seeing a tough, slightly arrogant hunter gentleman, but a peacefully asleep, vulnerable man.
"Wal... Wallace."
Wallace gasped, his eyes never leaving Victor. For a second, he thought Victor had woken up.
"Wallace... has beautiful blue eyes... Nnnmmmm... love 'em."
Lady Tottington looked at Wallace and grinned.
Wallace put a hand to his cheek and felt them growing warm.
"And most of all... love Wallace... wanna marry him."
Wallace felt a giddy feeling in his chest. But what was it?
He swore he felt this feeling before with Wendolene, even Lady Tottington. Many others too. But Victor?
Wallace decided to shake it off, continuing to listen to whatever ramblings Victor had to say in his sleep. He probably didn't mean them, anyway. It was all nonsense.
Victor turned over on his side, dropping his hand and letting it hang over the side of the couch. "Wallace... come here."
Wallace decided to come and lie on the couch despite thinking it all to be ramblings.
Lady Tottington, with a big smile on her face, slowly walked out of the room.
"I'll leave you two alone," she whispered.
Victor brought his arm and set it around Wallace.
"Uh... Wha... Victor...?"
"Shhhh... You're with me now..."
Victor finally quieted down, despite some brief snores every now and then. Wallace drifted off beside him.
