The Saloon

As she walks to the Saloon, Lyla can't help but feel nervous.

She moved into the Valley three weeks ago, slowly adjusting to farm life in stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Zuzu City. Planting crops, clearing trees and pulling weeds. Despite the hard work it took, Lyla found pride in her work, and soon enough, she had a few plots of crops.

During these first few weeks, she had met everyone in Pelican Town, most in passing. Pierre the shop owner, Harvey the town doctor, and Major Lewis. Of all the people in town, she started to become friends with a girl named Emily, the bartender at the local saloon.

One afternoon, as Lyla and Emily walk through the cobblestowned town, Emily turns to her. "You should come to the saloon on Friday! Everyone in town comes down for a drink, my sister and her friends play pool. It's really chill." She smiles, a soft laugh escaping her lips. "It gets busy, and Pam gets on the jukebox sometimes."

Lyla looks back at her, slightly stunned. "Are you sure? I don't want to impose."

Emily's eyes crease upwards with joy, sparkling. "Of course, Lyla. You're apart of the town now. Please come."

And now, Lyla stands on the steps, the jukebox playing loudly through the windows. After a deep breath, she walks in, walking straight to the bar.

"Lyla!" Emily smiles, pouring her a beer. "On the house," Lyla takes a sip, looking around. As her eyes scan the room, she sees Mayor Lewis flirting with a woman, Robin and Demetrius dancing to the music on the jukebox, and a group of people playing pool. "That's my sister and her friends," Emily continues, following Lyla's gaze. "Want me to introduce you?"

Emily walks out from the bar, taking Lyla's arm. "Let's go." Lyla grabs her beer, laughing.

As she stumbles, Lyla looks towards the game room, seeing two girls, one blonde and one blue haired. "The preppy girl is my sister, Haley," Emily laughs, calling Haley over. "Haley, this is Lyla." Haley smiles, her blonde curls bouncing on her shoulders as she walked. "Hi, welcome to Pelican Town! You've been here a few weeks, right?"

Lyla nods, smiling. "I've been so busy, getting the farm all fixed up. It's hard, but it's good work." Emily goes back to the bar, and Haley calls the other people over. "Abigail, Seb, Sam! This is Lyla, she's new to town."

Lyla looks over, and sees him. Blonde hair, spiked up with gel. A blue jacket loosely fitting his frame. A warm smile graces his face, and Lyla is stunned. "Uh.. hi. " She coughs, looking down briefly. "Lyla."

The man laughs slightly, extending his hand. "Nice to meet you, Lyla. Sam."
