Darkness. Pain, and then nothing. I do not regret my decision.
James and I had been good friends. I couldn't bear to see him die. I couldn't just do nothing. His body, slumped on the deck of the Dutchman. I couldn't stand there, and watch all the blood flow out of him.
I do not regret my decision.
I struck a deal with Jones. It was a bad idea, but it was my choice. I had agreed to take James's place in death.
The wind blew wildly as I stepped up on the railing of the ship. He threw the knife. It almost missed. So close. I felt myself fall over backwards into the sea.
So cold, why is death so cold? No more light. Darkness. Pain, and then nothing. I do not regret my decision.
