They lay there for a while, the world quiet around them, the soft hum of summer bugs and the distant barking of a dog filling the silence.

Beomgyu shifted, looking up at Yeonjun with a glint in his eyes.

"Let's go for a walk," he said suddenly.

Yeonjun blinked. "What?"

"Let's walk around the neighborhood. Late-night talk, you know?"

Yeonjun raised an eyebrow, amused. "Love, what if your parents check your room and see you're not there?"

Beomgyu scoffed, pushing at Yeonjun's chest lightly. "We've been sneaking out for months, Yeonjun. You think they still check?"

Yeonjun sighed, a soft smile playing on his lips. "Fine. It's because I love you."

Beomgyu smirked, sitting up. "I know you can't resist me."

Yeonjun laughed, ruffling Beomgyu's hair before standing up, pulling Beomgyu with him. "You're insufferable."

They walked side by side down the quiet street, the warm summer air wrapping around them as they talked about everything and nothing.

Beomgyu swung their hands between them, occasionally bumping his shoulder against Yeonjun's, earning a fond, exasperated smile each time.

The streetlights cast long shadows behind them, their steps soft against the pavement. A stray dog was rummaging through a trash bag at the end of the street, its ears perking up as it noticed them.

Beomgyu glanced at it, a mischievous grin forming on his lips.

"Don't," Yeonjun warned, sensing the chaos before it happened.

Beomgyu stuck out his tongue at the dog, making a mocking barking sound, scrunching his nose.

The dog froze.

Then, it started barking, loud and sharp, before it began running toward them.

"Oh, shit," Beomgyu hissed, eyes wide.

Yeonjun's jaw dropped. "Beomgyu!"

"Run!"

They sprinted down the street, laughter and panic mixing together as the dog chased them, its barking echoing in the night.

"You—are—insane—" Yeonjun panted between laughs as they rounded the corner, the dog finally giving up and trotting back.

Beomgyu was doubled over, laughing so hard tears were forming in his eyes. "Come on, babe, it was fun."

Yeonjun glared at him, hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. "You knew I can't run, and you still mocked the damn dog."

Beomgyu smirked, looking back down the street where the dog was, sticking his tongue out as he throws his middle finger on the dog. "Ha, loser."

Yeonjun massaged his temples, trying to hide the smile tugging at his lips. "What kind of boyfriend do I even have?"

"The best kind," Beomgyu said, sticking out his bottom lip in a pout before wrapping his arms around Yeonjun's waist, burying his face in his chest. "Sorry, sorry, sorry," he mumbled between kisses as he pressed them to Yeonjun's jaw, his cheek, the corner of his lips.

Yeonjun chuckled, soft and breathless, wrapping his arms around Beomgyu and pressing a kiss to his forehead. "You're lucky I love you."

"Blah blah, you say that every night like a hundred times," Beomgyu teased, pulling back just enough to look at him, eyes crinkling with mischief.

Yeonjun rolled his eyes, but his lips curved. "Fine, fine. Now let's go back before your parents actually wake up."

They walked back hand in hand, their steps slower now, soft giggles and whispers filling the air.

When they reached Beomgyu's backyard, they paused, the moonlight bathing them in silver.

Beomgyu looked up at Yeonjun, eyes soft. "See you tomorrow?"

Yeonjun smiled, leaning down to press a soft, lingering kiss to his lips. "I love you."

Beomgyu grinned, cheeks warm. "I love you too."

They kissed again, just a soft press of lips, before pulling away, reluctant.

Beomgyu climbed back up the tree, Yeonjun steadying the branch for him, watching him with soft eyes as Beomgyu slipped back through his window.

Yeonjun took a few steps back, looking up.

Beomgyu was peeking out of his window, his messy hair haloed by the moonlight, his lips curved in a sleepy smile.

Yeonjun lifted his hand, waving.

Beomgyu waved back, eyes crinkling, before dropping the curtain and disappearing inside.

Yeonjun walked back to his apartment, his heart so full it almost hurt, a soft smile on his lips.

When he reached his window, he glanced across the yard.

Beomgyu was there, peeking through his own window, waiting.

Their eyes met, and they both lifted their hands, waving at each other one last time.

Then, they both dropped their curtains, crawling into their beds, hearts still warm, smiles still lingering on their lips.

Sleep came easy that night, dreams filled with soft kisses and laughter under the stars, and the quiet, comforting knowledge that tomorrow would come, and they would find each other again.
