How it all started

Since the late afternoon sun was shining bright over the empty streets, y/n stepped out of her house with her earphones set in. Her favorite playlist played softly, making it difficult to hear the outside world other than the distant sounds of the passing cars.

"A quick trip to the store", y/n told herself as she adjusted the strap of her shoulder bag. Her mother had sent her to the store for a few groceries, not that y/n was too interested in grocery shopping, but she was okay taking a peaceful walk. Plus, everything is always better with music.

As y/n walked, she let the rhythm of the music carry her movement along with the music, bobbing her head to the beat. The chilly autumn air was fresh, and smelt of fallen leaves with a whiff of fresh bread from a near bakery.

When she arrived at the small corner store, she grabbed the essentials of milk, bread and snacks before moving to the cashier and back out the door. She pulled her phone out to check if there was anything worth seeing or updating.

That's when she saw it...

Blue Lock - Chapter 308 Released!

Her heart dropped.

"No way ! Finally !" y/n thought, excitement flooding her body. Blue Lock was her absolute favorite manga, and she had been waiting for this.

She was anxious to read it.

Still lost in thought, she turned back towards home with an itch to tap the notification. The further she got from the moment, the farther away life felt, but she continued to suppress her excitement, looking down at the screen.

And then

Screeching of tires pierced through the air as a semi truck barreled through the intersection, ignoring the red light completely.

She couldn't breath.

All at once, pain exploded through her, and nothingness swallowed her whole. She felt weightless, like she was falling forever, but the moment was terrifying. She could hear voices far away, frantic shouting, and people calling her name, but she was already fading.

All that occupied her thoughts was one statement, I never got to read it...

And then, nothing.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The sound rang in her ears, mechanical and consistent (whatever that means)

Y/N opened her eyes with a gasp.

A white ceiling. The sterile smell of disinfectant. The feeling of soft sheets brushing her fingertips.

Y/N was laying in a hospital bed.

Her heart raced as she pushed herself up, puzzled and confused.

"Wait... did I just... die?"

She instinctively reached for her phone, but when she looked at her hands, they were smaller and more dainty.

Panic swirled through her body as she scanned the room.

This was not her room. This was not her world.

And then it hit her, like a lightning bolt.

She was reincarnated.
