It was a cool Sunday afternoon and Janice was putting their daughter down for a nap when the doorbell rang. She cursed under her breath, worried Sadie would wake but she didn't, the 1 year old was out cold. Thank goodness because she wasn't having the best day. She placed her in her cot and pulled the door partially closed, taking the baby monitor with her. They were having a lazy Sunday, catching up on episodes of Bridgerton. Janice was ready to cuddle back up with her wife on the sofa.

Marjorie opened the door to an older gentleman, probably mid 60's, dark grey hair, dressed in a suit, wearing a Rolex. She also noticed there was a Mercedes parked outside.

"Hello, can I help you?" She asked.

"Ah good afternoon, my name is Vincent, I'm looking for someone and I was hoping you could help - " The man spoke but was cut off by her wife's voice behind her.

"Dad..." Marjorie turned to look at her wife. That was a plot twist that she had not been expecting for their lazy Sunday afternoon.

"What are you doing here?" Janice walked to Marjorie's side and spoke to the man that was apparently Janice's father.

"Oh pumpkin! Look at you!" The man spoke.

"What do you want...?" She asked him.

"I want to talk." He told her.

"You're about 20 years too late." She rolled her eyes.

"Janice... please." Marjorie almost felt sorry for him. Well she would have if she hadn't known that they weren't close and she left home young. She didnt know a lot about Janice's family but she knew they weren't really in contact. She also didn't think they had money, so the appearance of this man was confusing to her.

"You have 10 minutes." She said, standing aside for him to walk into the loungeroom.

"Do you want anything to drink?" Janice asked him.

"A water would be good." He nodded, looking around the loungeroom. Looking at the photos that sat on the walls.

Janice grabbed Marjorie's hand and pulled her into the kitchen.

"What the hell.... I thought you left home at 17 with nothing." Marjorie said with her hands on her hips.

"I did leave home at 17... with nothing. I struggled like hell while they didn't give a damn if I lived or died." Janice spoke quietly. Her wife's face softened.

"I didn't lie about anything. I just, I don't want to relive this. I left for a reason. I never told anyone why..." Janice sighed, running her hand through her hair. "I'll give you details, I promise. I will tell you absolutely everything. But right now, I just need you. Because that man hurt me and I don't know why he's currently in our lounge." Janice told her frazzled.

"Okay... I'm on your team, no matter what." Marjorie held her face in her hands and kissed her. She held her hand as they walked back into the lounge. She was shaking. It took a hell of a lot to break Janice Greyson, but here she was, looking so small and fragile.

They sat opposite to Janice's father.

"Vincent, is it? I'm Marjorie, Janice's wife." She smiled lightly at him trying to get introductions out of the way. Janice still squeezed her hand.

"Why are you here...?" Janice asked cautiously.

"Pumpkin, this isn't easy for me to admit but I have messed up a lot in my life." He started and Janice scoffed, loudly.
