The sun was startin to set, golden light spilled through the gaps between buildings, castin long shadows across the empty streets. Aiko's hands stayed deep in her pockets, her shoulders tense beneath her hoodie. She kept glancing over her shoulder, scanning alleyways, building windows, anything. But there was nothing. No signs of life. No sound beyond their own footsteps.
Heiya trailed just behind, her pace steady, gaze flicking across rooftops and traffic lights like she expected something to drop from the sky. Her brows were drawn tight, lips pressed into a thin line.
They hadn't seen a single person since the fireworks. Not even a whisper of movement.
"I really hate this," Aiko muttered. Her voice came out hoarse. "It's creeping me out how all of Tokyo just... disappeared."
Heiya didn't answer right away, but her slight nod said enough.
Their shoes scraped against the pavement, the silence stretching longer, louder. It swallowed everything. They had passed Shibuya Crossing twenty minutes ago, hoping someone might be there. A car. A noise. Anything.
"Still no one," Heiya muttered.
"Not even a cat," Aiko said, voice dry. She tried to joke, but it landed flat. They were both too on edge.
Heiya kicked an empty soda can that rolled lazily down the sidewalk. It clattered against the concrete, far too loud. "Think we're the only ones here?"
"No," Aiko said instantly. Too fast. "No way. There has to be someone."
But the more they walked, the more it felt like they were lying to themselves. The city was too still. Even the air felt heavy.
In the distance a big bright light was visible,"Heiya..." Aiko nudged Heiya's shoulder to get her attention. "Look" Heiya glanced over at some huge billboard with a confused expression.
"Is someone over there?" raising an eyebrow. Aiko grabbed Heiya's wrist and jogged over toward the light. As they approached, the clearer the screen became.

The arrow was pointing to the left, It wasn't subtle. It was practically calling to them. Aiko narrowed her eyes. "Game? What does that even-" Before she could finish, a second spotlight flicked on above them with a low mechanical hum, flooding the intersection in bright white light. Both girls flinched.
A chill settled in Heiya's chest the longer she looked at it, "Do we... check it out?"
Aiko grimaced her lips unsure but they were looking for atleast some form of life. "Come on." The turned down the alley, the glow of the billboard fading behind them. The more they walked the weirder it got.
