Boom wasn’t supposed to smile at him. Not now. Not here. Not in front of cameras and expectations and this scripted lie they had to live.

But there it was half a second, a twitch of the corner of his mouth, hidden beneath practiced detachment. A smile only Smart would catch.

And Smart did. Like always. He was trained to notice everything about Boom. The way he blinked slower when he was tired. The way he bit the inside of his cheek when he was trying not to laugh. The way his fingers, just now, lingered one breath longer on Smart’s arm during the interview segment.

It drove Smart insane. Insane, because Boom still looked at him like he meant something. Even after all this after the company pushed them into silence, after the roles they had to play bled into their real lives and carved distance between them.

Insane, because he couldn’t do a damn thing about it. Not now. Not yet. Not while they were being watched.

So he did what he always did. He sent a signal back.

A subtle shift in his body. A white heart emoji on each post. A matching bracelet, the same ones they chose together still clinging to shared memories in silence. A subtle touch on Boom’s back, brief and hidden, as they passed backstage.

And later, when the day had finally ended and the crowd had dispersed, Smart found Boom waiting in the hallway. Hoodie up. Head low. Alone.

Their eyes met. No words.

Smart reached out, tugged him close by the wrist.

“You smiled at me,” he murmured.

“You wore the bracelet,” Boom answered.

It wasn’t much. But it was theirs.

Their love wasn’t loud. It didn’t need to be.
It lived in glances, in codes, in things the world would never see.

But between them—
It was always real.
