THE WORLD SLOWLY SWAM INTO FOCUS. A dull ache pulsed through your skull as you blinked against the white ceiling. The hum of machines, the faint hiss of oxygen, and the steady beep of a monitor filled the silence. Something tugged gently at your arm—an IV drip.

Suddenly, the memory of the car crash surged back. You turned your head and caught sight of Si-eun watching you. You blinked, startled.

"You're awake," he notes, "you've been unconscious for two days from the car crash you were found in."

You tried to sit up, but Si-eun immediately stood and placed firm hands on your arms. "You're still injured. Don't push yourself."

"Wait...Where's Su-ho?" you questioned. "Wouldn't he have come to see me? Is he at work or something?"

As you tilted your head, trying to get a better look at Si-eun, until something caught your eye—the school uniform he was still wearing, rumpled and stained. Your gaze narrowed. There, just below his shoulder, was a dark smear—rust-colored and unmistakably blood.

"Wait... is that blood?"

"It's not mine," Si-eun pushed you into the bed.

"What? Is that—is that supposed to be a good thing?" you shook your head slightly, heart beginning to race. "Did you get into a fight?"

Si-eun's mouth drew into a firm line. "Yeah."

"Damn it, did Beom-seok do something again? Can't he leave us alone? He already hurt us enough..." you complain.

Si-eun didn't respond, but his silence said enough. He wasn't denying your assumption that Beom-seok was responsible for something.

You pressed on. "What did he do this time?"

With a weary breath, Si-eun began to recount what had unfolded while you were in the hospital. Apparently, Su-ho had found out about Si-eun's injuries and, fueled by anger, went straight to confront Beom-seok at Top Class MMA—the gym center you worked in.

But Beom-seok hadn't shown up alone. He came with backup—Woo-young, Yeong-bin, and a few others—and created a sparring match between Woo-young and Su-ho.

Su-ho lost the fight in the harshest way. After Woo-young finally stopped, Beom-seok took over, raining down vicious kicks on Su-ho's fallen body, heedless of his pain. The blows continued long after Su-ho went limp, until his battered form was left with injuries severe enough to be fatal.

When Si-eun found out, he went after Woo-young and attacked him, then sought out Beom-seok to confront him. He had intended to treat Beom-seok the same way he had treated Woo-young, but couldn't bring himself to act. Instead, he simply confronted Beom-seok, feeling disheartened, and then left the school building.

When he finished, you were too stunned to speak. You had just woken up—only to be met with another tragedy.

Si-eun also decides to let the silence linger, until he asks, "how are you feeling?"

"Peachy."

"I don't like seeing you hurt," he says quietly. "It makes me... want to hurt whoever did this to you."

You glare, bristling. "Right—speaking of whoever, what happened to that nutcase who crashed into the taxi I was in?"

"The police were called and the driver said they will cover your bills and pay for the damages for the taxi driver," he watched you intently, like he was trying to peel your soul apart with just his eyes.

"Good." Your eyes flit to his. "Ya, let's visit Su-ho. Is he ok? Is he awake?"

"When I went there...he wasn't awake."
