Not quite the ideal pair, but a match as good as any other he had seen here on earth. One Gage was more than happy to test.

“You have no need to thank me,” even if gratitude had a whole different meaning here on earth, “I only did what should have been done to stop a wrong.”

“Oh…oh…right,” the boy said frowning for a moment, as if he himself were trying to solve some puzzle in his mind, “It’s Gage, right?” he asked now with a question on his face, as if he couldn’t believe that someone could actually be named that.

Gage didn’t know the origin of his name any more his own creation. But in his defense these mortals had come up with some pretty unoriginal names themselves. Naming their offspring after months and days of the weeks, flowers and fruits, objects such as cars and the brands they adorn themselves and houses with…Gage was hardly something to scoff at.

   “Yes, it is…”

“Duncan,” he held his hand out, “and thank you again. If there’s anything you need-”

“Perhaps another time,” Gage cut him off. Now was not the time to tell this child that what he needed, or rather wanted, was the body of his “girl” beneath him on a soft bed, “I have a meeting I must get to.”

“Sure, sure,” Duncan nodded, “but I mean it. When you’re ready you can find me, and Sera too, over at the Beta Alpha Gamma house, alright?”

No…Gage thought to himself, things couldn’t fall together that easily could they?

He may have been planning to scout the place anyway, but an invitation to come inside…well that completely changed his game plan.

   For the better that is.

Question was, when he said he could find the both of them there, was that because they shared a house, or a bed?

“Of course,” Gage gave him a nod, “I look forward to knowing…the both of you better.”

Again that frown kit Duncan’s brow, as if he was tempted to take that offer back, but he too nodded before turning his back on Gage and jogging back over to where Sera stood.

He watched her for a moment, just as she watched him, again those sunglasses irked him. He couldn’t judge her reaction, her emotions without seeing her eyes…but maybe that was the reason for them?

Her attention turned to Duncan as he took her bag from her, snaking an arm around her waist as they took off in the opposite direction.

And that was just as well, Gage needed to get on with this meeting with Michael. Preferably out of the public eye.

This time he walked with purpose to where Jerry waited with the car, only to see the man rubbing a hand around a neck that looked to have quite the angry handprint on it. Which was quite the contrast to the pale skin of this vessel. It wouldn’t have been quite so obvious on the deep brown of his own natural state, well, what was his natural state and the form his soul had taken in the afterlife.

Now he looked all the part of the personal assistant he had been to the Senator in life. Neat suit, neat blonde hair, blue tooth on one ear, glasses that did bother Jerry that he was forced to wear because the human’s grey eyes were near sighted, but all together pretty typical. It was why Gage tried to model his own appearance after him. He had no idea how the corporate group dressed, never really worked within it, so it was good to have a form to base his own style on.

“Guess Michael already said hello didn’t he?” Gage asked the man as he opened the back door of the sedan for him so he could toss his belongings in the back seat, tugging his tie off as well. He’d lose the shirt too but that would only serve to draw attention he was sure.
