Boom stared at the ceiling of his condo, phone resting on his chest, still lit with Smart's Instagram post from earlier—a candid behind-the-scenes shot of them laughing between takes.
The caption was innocent enough:
"Working late, but at least I've got good company. 🎬🤍 #SmartBoom #BLSetLife"
The fans would eat it up. The comments were already flooding in.
"Married in real life when???"
"The chemistry is illegal at this point."
"Are they even acting anymore??"
Boom sighed and set the phone aside.
He hated how close they were to the truth.
The kiss from earlier was supposed to be simple. He'd kissed Smart a dozen times on camera before—hand-holding, forehead touches, confessions in the rain. But today felt different. Today, Smart looked at him like he meant it.
And for a moment, Boom let himself believe he did.
He ran a hand through his hair and sat up, rubbing the tension out of his neck. Every time they finished a scene like that, it left something heavy in his chest. Not regret—but something worse.
Hope.
Hope that maybe, just maybe, Smart would say something once the cameras stopped. Ask him to stay behind. Ask if they could talk.
But Smart never did.
He was always professional. Distant, but not cold. Friendly, but not open. Always careful.
Boom, on the other hand, had never been good at hiding how he felt.
He reached for his phone again, opening their private chat.
Boom:
Hey. U still up?
He stared at the message for a full minute. Then deleted it.
What would be the point?
It wasn't like Smart would answer with what Boom wanted to hear.
"I like you too."
"It's not just the script."
"Let's stop pretending."
Boom tossed his phone onto the bed and got up to get a glass of water. As he stood in the kitchen, lights off, city lights glittering beyond the balcony, he whispered something out loud—just once—where no one could hear him.
"I wish I didn't love you."
And the worst part?
He knew tomorrow would come.
Another scene. Another take. Another almost.
And he'd still smile through it all.
