Too Late [ENG VER.]

Prologue

"YOU CHEAT!"
Skylar yelled our to the boy in front of her. "Mama, you are too slow! I won!" Taunted Vain. Vain and Skylar have been friends for the longest time. Vain is always ecstatic whenever he gets to play with Skylar, sometimes even calling her 'Mama' since she is 2 years older. Like now, they played on a hill in their city, specifically the one where they first met and played at. The birds chirped as they flew back to their nests. They always savour the spectacular sunset before leaving and returning to their respective nests. This time was no differen from the rest, the duo raced to the top of the hill. Vain came out victorious today.

"Mama! The sky is so beautiful!" Vain shouted in awe of the beauty of the sunset. "What, don't be a sap, we see it every day." Skylar scoffed while rolling her eyes. While they were drinking in the view, a faint rustling sound could be heard alongside some loud breathing. It sounded human. Vain perked up at the sound, "Mama, did you hear it too??" Vain asked curiously. Skylar's eyes narrowed, "what are you talking about; the birds? I don't hear anything else," she retorted sternly. The sound gradually got louder, signalling something getting closer. Skylar perked up as well, finally hearing it. An ominous feeling lingered in the air, her heart starting to pound in her chest. "BOO!!" Rian burst out of some nearby bushes, startling Vain. Skylar shrieked in response, getting caught off guard. Vain, taken by surprise, slipped from the top of the hill rolling towards the foot of the hill. The two watched the scene unfold, beginning to chase after Vain. Unexpectedly, they found the boy in the river at the foot of the hill, soaking wet. Rian immediately helped him while Skylar laughed at Vain with his wet hair and annoyed expression "pfft- Vain, how'd you fall into the river? You're really that scared?" "Oh c'mon, my back hurts, it think I hit a rock or something..." Rian helped the drenched boy up, barely able to hold back his amusement. The three walked together alongside the long road to the house to clean themselves and rest.

Arriving home, Vain immediately took a shower and joined his family for dinner. The conversation began. "How was your day Vain? It seems like there's a problem" Vain's mother asked, "How did you know??" Vain asked. Then his mother answered "Your facial expression explains everything". Vain said "Hehe yes. Mom is right I do have a problem" Vain said. His mother asked. "What problem Vain? How come you're like this. How rare", "That's it, Mom. Skylar. She always makes fun of me and laughs at me" Vain replied. "Oh Skylar, she's actually a good kid Vain, it's just covered by her funny nature". "Mom? Did I hear you right?? Skylar? Funny? She's always teased me since I was little, what can be called funny, Mom". Then his father said "Wow, wow, you, still whining about Skylar to your mother, your stories never end, Vain. Vain, listen carefully, what will father say, son, be good friends with Skylar. The day after tomorrow you and Skylar will start going to the same school". "WHAT??! Dad, why do I have to go to the same school as that old mama" Vain answered loudly. After dinner, his father immediately left to work the night shift without answering Vain's words. "Come on Vain, you've been friends for quite a long time, even though you often argue every day. Oh yeah, don't forget to tell your little sister to go to bed soon, don't let mom see you staying up late like last week." Vain and his little sister named Vania quickly went to bed so they wouldn't get another long scolding from their mother.
