It caught us off guard, we weren't exactly expecting it, though maybe deep down we all knew it would end this way.
It was Friday, March 17th at 8:15 AM in Manhattan, New York. Lily, a girl who had lived her whole life in the big Apple,  just woken from the gleaming sun shining into her bedroom, almost blinding her. She immediately heard car horns and city ambiance from her apartment. She was used to this it was the same routine, sounds and smells every morning. Lily loves the city it's all she's ever known. She loved the sounds and smells and all the people around her, it was calming to her. But that is all about to change. She and her family are moving to a small town named Everdale. It was located just south of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, with a small population of only about 650 people. It's moving day Lily still needed to finish packing. She quickly threw all the last-minute necessities into her bag, and just as she'd finished the sound of her mother's voice echoed up into her room from the bottom of the stairs.

''Lily! Breakfast is ready, come on downstairs and eat!'' her mother shouted from the kitchen.

''Ok! Coming one sec, I just gotta finish up real quick" Lily yelled back at her

Lily finished packing and went downstairs to the kitchen 'Wow, it's so empty in here' she thought. 'I wonder why my parents decided to move to Everdale. Why do we have to move? We have so many memories here.'

''Oh, hey Lily! Here I made your favorite homemade uncrustable!'' her mother said as Lily came stumbling down the stairs.

''Wow, thanks, Mom, you're the best! Oh yeah uh, Mommy?''

Her mother looking concerned ''What's wrong?''

''Can I ask you something?'' said Lily, nearly on the verge of tears.

''Of course, honey!''

''Why do we have to move? We have so many memories here,'' said Lily as tears slowly started to form in her eyes.

''Lily, you know why. Your father got a better teaching job, we had a long conversation about this, remember?'' she said sort of sternly

''Yeah, I remember, but like why couldn't we just stay here and he could keep the job he has now?'' Tears now slowly run down her face and onto her sweater.

''Lily. They are offering him double the money he has now, this is going to help us! Stop worrying so much, I know it's hard, but everything will be okay, I promise,'' her mom exclaimed.

''Thanks, Mom. I guess that makes me feel a little bit better.''

''Hey guys, c'mon, we gotta go!'' Her father barked from the front hallway. "We are already running late! We should have been on the road a half hour ago!"

It was time to leave. Lily and her family went around the house and said all their last-minute goodbyes. As they got into the car and soon pulled out of the driveway, Lily began to cry. She has lived in the city her whole life. She began to think about all the memories and her friends. 'Damn I'm gonna miss this place, I have so many memories here and I'm gonna miss my friends' she thought. Lily felt a slight buzz on her lap coming from her phone, it was Kaylee, her best friend since Elementary school. As soon as she saw the message, she started crying even harder. She couldn't stop thinking about how much she was going to miss her, and she was scared to lose her since they were going to be 4 hours away from each other. Lily felt another buzz from her phone, and again it was Kaylee. She opened the message again. 'Oh man, I have to stop crying so I can reply' she thought to herself.

Lily set down her phone and put her AirPods in, listening to the playlist she made specifically for the ride. The town of Everdale is located in the middle of nowhere, a speck on the map many often overlooked. Although it may seem like your typical small town. It's not. Everdale has some deep dark secrets that very few know about. Some even say there are secret societies somewhere deep in the forest. But it's more likely that it's all just folklore passed down from generations to keep the town's kids out of the woods.
