Summer Without You

Most people my age  couldn't wait for summer vacation to start, only seven more days till we were finally school-free.
And of course that meant no more book loads of work till September, but I wasn't really looking forward
for a long two months off of high school with only my father. I used to enjoy spending my holidays with him,
but after my mother passed away four years ago from cancer, we haven't really  travelled anywhere out of the state.
In the last weeks of school my mom would always be saying that one day we travel to somewhere outside of the country, maybe Europe. That never happened of course.

Nowadays, I don't do anything but lock myself in my room and read a couple of books, and of course im always called out for it.
I mean, what else could I do? I'm not really a fan of going out either unless it's with my best friend, Bianca. She is the
only one who manages to pull me out of my dull home and go out elsewhere. Even if it's the mall or just the old library,
she's the only reason I can survive the summer, otherwise there really isn't a point of going out of my room.

I don't understand how other people are able to get over the loss of someone, because I haven't been able to take
my head out of the idea of no longer having a mom. It's probably normal, but ever since I picked up that phone call,
I haven't thought about anything else. My mom wont be there for me ever again, and there's nothing I can do to change that.
Summer this year wont be any different than the rest, that's something that I can asure.

Bianca has already started to make all sorts of plans for the both of us, at least that means I'll be doing something interesting during 
the long-lasting holidays. But being honest, I was not prepared to step out of my room at all, I just wanted to lay in bed and read through the vacations. Hopefully something gets on our way so we don't do all of her planned activities right?
