Don't you know how to get out of situations like this? Sagewhisker thought. Her brother was in the risk of dying from a riverclan cat and his "mother" is to "busy" attacking Minnowbreeze. "Oh fine!" She growled to herself. She pushed herself to her paws and knocked over Frogstar.
"So what happened?" The siblings were standing inside Featherstar's den, getting scolded. "Well, w-we came to Sunningrocks a-and they were patrolling." Squirrelheart stuttered anxiously. "Ah, makes sense." Featherstar mewed. "Now get out of my sight." Her eyes became as blue as ever. The pair of them dashed off before she got suspicious.
"Hi Sagewhisker!" Ashfoot called, his eyes gleaming at her. Sagewhisker looked behind her shoulder then purred. Ashfoot was one of the cats she trusted the most, Shimmerpelt on the other hand was jealous and hates Ashfoot, she probably wants a mate. Is he my mate? She thought as Squirrelheart padded over to her. "Do you think Lilyblaze is our mother?" Squirrelheart asked. Sagewhisker thought about it for a moment. "I honestly don't know." She finally said reluctantly. He shrugged it off then walked away in confusion. "NO! Don't walk away dummy, of course she isn't!"
Sagewhisker curled up into a ball and closed her eyes. Happily, she thought of the good things. Finally, a time where it's peaceful, a time to share tongues, a time where there's no patrols, a time- "Shorttail's wheezing again!" Jaypaw and Daisypaw ran around in circles. "Shut up would you!" Snowpaw rolled her eyes. "She had it this morning! Now let me treat Lunarpaw." The white apprentice turned her back around then carried a weird smelling herb. "I wouldn't want to be a medicine apprentice." Jaypaw murmured in Daisypaw's ear. "Anyways, where is Feathertail?" Shorttail rasped from the elders' den. "You mean Featherstar?" Jaypaw tilted his head to one side. That's it! I've had enough! Sagewhisker stepped out of her nest them grumbled. "I hate apprentices that act like kits." "Let all cats old enough to catch their prey, gather around the highrock to join this meeting!" Amberstripe yowled. Surprisingly, Featherstar wasn't there with him. Sagewhisker felt another pelt brush against hers. "Weird, Featherstar's gone." Ashfoot whispered.
"Where's Featherstar?"
"She should be up there!"
Amberstripe ignored them. "Featherstar retired and is now in the elders' den. I will be Amberstar from now on." Amberstripe mewed, his gaze tired. "Also, Jaypaw, Daisypaw and Snowpaw fought bravely during the Riverclan battle and I would like to announce their warrior names." He added. You have got to be kidding me! Murmurs of disagreement came from the camp. "I, Amberstripe, deputy of Thunderclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in their turn..." Amberstripe, once again, ignored the murmurs.
"Daisyflower! Jaywing! Lunarlight!" The camp yowled their new names. Snowpaw joined in, hoping he would announce hers. But Amberstripe jumped off of the high rock and padded to the medicine den. Sagewhisker sighed. The warrior den was too crowded already, they didn't need more warriors in the den. "Wait- wait!" Amberstripe quickly went up on the high rock. "What now!" Sagewhisker grumbled. Snowpaw peeked out of the medicine den one more time. She had a excited look on her face. She's probably wondering if she would get her medicine cat name. "I would also like to announce Bouncekit, Willowkit and Softkit's apprentice names!" He ducked his head apologetically. Snowpaw sighed then stalked away. "Bouncekit, Willowkit and Softkit, you all have reached the age of six moons and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Bouncepaw, Willowpaw and Softpaw. Your mentors will be.." Sagewhisker was praying to get an apprentice. Maybe, it isn't that hard.. right? "Sagewhisker, Squirreheart and Swifttail. I hope they will pass down all they know to you." Bouncepaw looked at him, confused. "But I don't want to be a medicine cat." He protested. Amberstripe gave the two Swifttails an unamused glance. Clearly, Featherstar had forgotten that Swifttail was already a name in Thunderclan. "No, not the medicine cat, I mean the warrior." Sagewhisker, Squirrelheart and Swifttail stepped up onto the high rock. "Sagewhisker, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from Mousetail, and you have shown yourself to be brave and fierce. You will be the mentor of Softpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Softpaw." Sagewhisker leaned over to touch noses with Softkit. Her kin, that should be easy.
"Keep this in your head, a rabbit will smell you before it hears or sees you, and a mouse will feel you before it hears or smells you." She mewed. Softpaw nodded her head, staring off in the distance. She sighed heavily, waiting for Softpaw to pay attention. Sagewhisker flicked her tail impatiently but Softpaw continued to look away. "Softpaw-!" She squinted her eyes, finally seeing what was out there. "Jawstar is here." She looked back at her. The black cat stepped out of the shadows. He didn't look like a threat. Instead, his fur was covered in red scarlet blood and so was the rest of his patrol. "We need your help. ShadowClan is being invaded by RiverClan."
