~ Chapter 2 ~

This train ride was going to be my living nightmare. How long does it take to get to the airport anyway?

"Perrie, you need get your priorities straight." My mother began.

I looked at her like she had three heads. "Excuse me?" I scoffed. I laughed at how she thought I was the one that needed to get my priorities straight.

"You heard me. You're old enough now, I think its time you put this idea of a music career to rest, and start getting involved in becoming a lawyer."

"What makes you think I want to be a lawyer?" I retorted. A lawyer was the absolute last thing I wanted to be. It didn't even make the list of my backup occupations.

"For starters, it runs in the family, and I don't know, I just thought you might want to take after me."

I couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. "You think I want to be like you? You're the last person I'd ever want to be like. You don't know what it's like to care for anyone but yourself." I said in disgust. I could tell my words hurt her, but they were words that needed to be said.

"Perrie Louise Edwards you take that back right now young lady! I do too care about others and to say I don't is downright disrespectful, I brought you into this world!"

Oh god, she was playing that card. I hate how parents think that means something. "That has nothing to do with anything!" I shouted." Why can't you see that I don't want to move, I don't want to be a lawyer, and I certainly don't want to be like you!"

I really didn't feel like talking anymore for I had said all that I needed to say. I grabbed my beats out of her hands and cranked my music back up. Thankfully she didn't stop me this time.

Tons of people were staring at me like I just purposely stepped on a puppy. I didn't want them to think I was a monster. I tried to relax and shake it off. I suddenly remembered that these people didn't understand what I was going through and that I'll never see any of them ever again.

This train ride just seemed to be dragging on. My mother and I didn't talk for the rest of the ride. During the silence, I reflected on our conversation.

Maybe I was too harsh? I did say some pretty hurtful things. But she's made my life absolutely miserable. No it needed to be done, I finally told myself.

I began to fidget. The airport couldn't seem more far away and I don't know how I was going to spend a twelve hour plane ride with her. I cracked my Vogue magazine back open to pass the remaining time. I desperately needed to go shopping so I hope the stores in England are nice.

Twenty minutes later, we finally arrived at the airport. Strangely, the quietness between us was bothering me. I so badly wanted to break the silence, but I knew it wouldn't be worth it. The less my mother opens her mouth, the better.

The line for security was surprisingly short, which made my day slightly better. Luckily, I didn't get patted down by creepy security guards like last time I rode on a plane. It was so embarrassing, I have my belly button pierced and their stupid detectors didn't like that.

An hour later, filled with more silence, we finally boarded the plane. Turns out my mother couldn't get seats together. I looked up and mouthed "thank you" to God. My mother sat a few rows behind me.

"Perrie I'm right here if you need anything." She called to me like a concerned parent would.

I just glared at her and took my seat. I was the only one in the row so far, so I got the window seat. I tilted my head towards the window and wondered who else would be sitting with me.

"Goodbye NYC." I whispered.

When I looked away from the window, a boy who looked around my age sat down in the middle seat.

Wow. Forget Luke, this boy was the definition of attractive. I decided to just forget about Luke. I did end things with him and we were most likely going to lose touch. Plus, if he didn't ask me out by now, he was never going too. If he had really felt the same way, he would have told me before I left.

I looked over at the gorgeous boy and he smiled at me, his brown eyes sparkling. I smiled back at him and tried to prevent myself from drooling.

Hmm, maybe this plane ride wouldn't be so bad after all....
