Tornados

Tornadoes tore through a cornfield.

Earsplitting screams and violent winds

Pound my ears and slap my face.

Your betrayal spun my world out of control.

Your lies a blade to my ribs-

Precise, sharp and unbearable.

I’ve survived your tornado for today.

Return to clear skies and quiet winds,

But I know dark clouds lurk

Just beyond the horizon.
